Cousin Robb

Posted on December 9, 2008November 24, 2014

Today was uneventful… more perfataping at the Mills Place.  Cleaning.  Laundry.  Dishes.  Teaching. Pretty much standard life… but nothing inspired me today. And then I remembered.  My cousin.  Cousin Robb.  This guy is younger than me.  Though I never can remember how much!  Most of my cousins were either a lot older or a lot…

Follow-Up on Be Warned

Posted on December 8, 2008April 3, 2015

For those of you who expressed interest… just thought I’d let you know… the downed calf died last night.  We hadn’t held out much hope for him, the vet says those kinds of injuries   (spinal injuries) don’t usually have a good ending.  He did have good food and water and care for his last…

Reprieve

Posted on December 7, 2008April 3, 2015

I feel bad for you… perhaps I shouldn’t have posted that nasty photo of the prolapse… then again, if you desire to live in the Far Far West, you’d better get tough!  I admit, I still go “Eeeew!”, I just have to put that aside and try to help with whatever we are working on!…

Be Warned

Posted on December 6, 2008April 3, 2015

Today started as a normal day… a little laundry and dishes… a tad bit of Christmas music as I started to pull out some Christmas decorations.  I hung the garland and lights on my front pole fence.  Everything is starting to look “Merry and Bright”! Then Vernon returned from the badlands with a prolapsed cow. …

Multitasking

Posted on December 4, 2008January 10, 2015

1. My furnace is fully functional now… oh, how I love the warmth! 2. Vernon hauls Lucas and I to Ten Sleep School so the kids can read to Lucas.  We are a “reading therapy team” and children LOVE to read out loud to Lucas.  He likes it too.  Can you tell? 3. Vernon continues…

December’s First Snow

Posted on December 3, 2008April 3, 2015

Last night the snow began right at dark… pellets that remind me of fertilizer!  Within minutes the snow was an inch deep and it slowly continued throughout the night.  By morning 5 inches of snow lay quietly on my world.  My furnace had quit on Saturday… and now, believe me, I missed it!  I always…

OOPE Fave 3

Posted on December 2, 2008April 3, 2015

My fave photo from yesterday’s OOPE… is this… Just had to toss in a little antique effect for fun!  Actually, it was kind of a toss-up between quite a few pics… maybe we should have a poll… and let you decide???  There was this… Which is a shot from the “backside” of the Mills Place….

OOPE Day 3

Posted on December 1, 2008April 3, 2015

Today found us on horseback again, trying to beat the bad weather that is rumored to be on its way.  Our mission was to gather the calves at the Mills Place and bring them home to our school section.  As I’ve done before on working days, I decided to make today an OOPE day –…

An Audience

Posted on November 30, 2008April 3, 2015

Well, we had to let the kids go back to their respective “homes” today.  Three went back to Laramie (cousin Caleb included) and one to Kaycee.  We cleaned up some garbage at the Mills place, doctored the sick calf, loaded up Caleb’s snowmachine into his pickup, ate some pitiful lunch and then they left.  It…

Different Directions

Posted on November 29, 2008January 10, 2015

These days, now that the kids are really adults, when they are home, we all can go different directions and accomplish a great deal.  Early early this morning, Daniel and Victoria accompanied their grandfather to a bull sale in Billings, Montana.  That entails a four hour drive…a walkthrough of the bulls (which, of course, we’ve…

So Tired

Posted on November 28, 2008April 3, 2015

I am SO TIRED… we worked all day up at the Mills place tearing out walls, doing electrical, figuring out stuff on the fly.  Do I want the outlets here or here?  Do you want the stove to be here?  How tall is the bar going to be?  How tall is the back of the…
