Panic and White Knuckles

Posted on December 3, 2010January 14, 2015

Posted on November 25, 2010March 28, 2015

First, I want to…

It’ll Work

Posted on October 24, 2010January 13, 2015

It’ll Work We helped our neighbors ship their old and open cows and some weaned calves today.  They didn’t have too many, so it was a relaxing event for us.  Although Lucas is rarely relaxed around cattle if he thinks he can help! He and I stayed out of the way for the last bit…

The Hands of Greet Ranch

Posted on October 11, 2010November 23, 2014

The skin may be covered in oil and grease. The fingernails may be full of grit and goo. A splinter or a barbwire cut is usually evident. The fingers may curve in atypical directions… blame it on football or machinery or livestock. There are no rings to snag in a pto. Calluses are present, especially…

Twilight Zone

Posted on September 19, 2010January 13, 2015

I was up on the mountain today. For part of it, Victoria and I took our dogs past the old Bar C cabin. I’ve never seen this cabin standing, but over the years, I have watched it lower itself like a grandfather settling in a soft couch.  Bit by bit, it disappears into the ground….

Just to Make You Three Happy

Posted on August 28, 2010January 14, 2015

All righty, folks… These will be the last wedding photos I plan on posting… I thought I’d throw out the fun ones… My boys LOVE to do this for some unknown male reason… they stare vacantly into space, mouths slack, often not looking at the camera.  A Dumb and Dumber there’s-nobody-home version that has ruined…

Let us Laugh… She loves him… Matt’s father D. married them.  His best (little) man was N., Matt’s nephew.  Matt’s brother, Z. also stood for him. Let us Believe in One Another……

Service

Posted on August 19, 2010January 12, 2015

We had a little ceremony here on the Greet Ranch yesterday. Even the reporter from the Northern Wyoming Daily News in Worland made it over. Seems as though my father-in-law, John, received another award for his volunteer weather observation.  He’s received the Jefferson Award and John Campanius Holm award previously.  This time it was the Dick…

Showerhouse Experience

Posted on July 27, 2010February 10, 2015

Please indulge me with one last wedding story… Most weddings have something that goes “wrong”… at mine, my sister left Vernon’s ring behind… since it didn’t fit and needed resized… she thought we weren’t using it.  That was easily remedied since I was married at my parents’ house and the ring was just upstairs. Victoria’s…

Cake!

Posted on July 26, 2010January 15, 2015

I’m sorry… I have a few more wedding stories I want to share… don’t worry, the big trail to the mountain pasture is coming up soon, and you’ll get lots of cowboying stories then… but I wanted to share the cakes with you! It was such a soap opera… the falling cakes… the oven that…
