Waiting

Posted on May 9, 2020May 9, 2020

The vet was just a bit late to do our PAP testing today. I wandered up to the junk pile. Yes, it was snowing. And windy. And cold. This old tractor is ready to plow. Except for having no tires. Or a workable engine. And there’s those four, rather large, sagebrush holding it in place……

This was first posted May 7, 2009. Do you know the old joke about the guy who wanted to be a turkey farmer???  He returned twice to the hatchery where he’d purchased his turkeys… each time saying all his turkeys had died.  The third time the hatchery owner asked him specifically what he was doing…

Lookout!

Posted on May 5, 2020May 5, 2020

While checking that cows had not discovered our incomplete fence, I stumbled across this unique feature. What from below appears to be a simple rock formation, from above is a totally different creation. Now, with my degree in anthropology, I was instantly fascinated! This overlooked the entire country. Was it a hunter’s blind? Was it…

Enjoyable Day

Posted on May 2, 2020May 2, 2020

Remember this winter, when Vernon took me to where he was building fence high on a ridge? Although he worked hard in the snow, he only completed about half of the fence line. There never has been a fence on that side of the pasture. When a wildfire took out many of the thick juniper…

DeTye Vet Supply

Posted on May 1, 2020May 1, 2020

Since today is May 1, that means an official ending to my sponsorship from DeTye Vet Supply. I hope that sometime in the past month, you’ve hit the link to their website and catalog found on my right sidebar. Spring tends to be big months for the purchase of vaccines. With all the uncertainties facing…

Posted on April 30, 2020April 30, 2020

This was first posted April 25, 2009. Today was the first day in a few, that I’ve been able to settle in, do some chores, play an extended amount of time with the puppies, and have a nice visit with my daughter and her boyfriend.   We’ve been moving cows, you see…   Elsa and Dally were…

Kid Power

Posted on April 28, 2020April 28, 2020

I broke it down for them. Be quiet. Be calm. Don’t wave your flags until you want a calf to move. They jumped right in, and I had to hustle to keep up with them. They worked the calves down the alley. They worked them into the smaller pen. The gates were heavy. The calves…
