Boysen Dam

Posted on August 31, 2015August 30, 2015

For any Wyoming history buffs out there… Here are two photos I found interesting. Boysen Dam is south of Thermopolis, Wyoming.  Construction began in 1946.  It is a rockfill dam, eventually reaching a height of 220′ and length of 1,143′.  The crest of the dam is 30′ wide, but the base is over 900′!  That’s…

Old Photos

Posted on August 30, 2015August 29, 2015

Gah!  I’m SO disgusted with myself!  I wanted to enter some photos in Casper’s Wild West Photo Fest like I did a couple of years ago… and I kept thinking the entries were due the last of August.  I looked at the form today, and the deadline was yesterday.  I AM SO MAD AT MYSELF! …

Posted on August 25, 2015August 25, 2015

Dr. Larry Lowendorf knows pictographs and petroglyphs.  I think I could follow him around and just absorb so much!  His discussion on Saturday was only and hour and a half long… but I was ready to go all day. I was happy to find that what I had shared with Ten Sleep’s summer school kids…

Posted on August 24, 2015August 23, 2015

Somebody was impatiently waiting for his job to begin… Aha!  Now we’re getting somewhere! Dad had to walk the ringbearer up the mowed aisle… you just can’t tell it wasn’t head high on the little guy. Oh, no!  He’s down!  Good thing the rings are tied onto that pillow! Oh, he’s up!  Can’t keep a…

Gorgeous Settings

Posted on August 23, 2015August 22, 2015

Busy day for our actual anniversary day… I requested a trip to Medicine Lodge Creek State Park to listen to Dr. Larry Lowendorf, a phenomenal expert on petroglyphs and pictographs.  In the Before Time, I wrote a research paper on petroglyphs and pictographs, and they’ve always captured my imagination.  Dr. Lowendorf has written multiple books…

Oh, My

Posted on August 22, 2015August 21, 2015

Given the choice between laundry, changing sheets on the beds, or a trip up the mountain to put out salt… it’s not very hard to guess which one I chose this afternoon… Someday my house will be clean… but not today! This time we even went over to the “back side” of the pasture.  That…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
