#TBT: “A Find”, v.2.0

Posted on July 2, 2020July 2, 2020

This was first posted July 9, 2009. I know someone who found something and then, wonder of wonders, returned it to the closest owner available. Her husband is a carpenter and was remodeling an old cabin.  Tucked away in the bottom of an old cabinet, was this. Absolutely gorgeous, is it not??? Hand-tooled… spectacular. It…

Mountain Time

Posted on June 30, 2020June 30, 2020

Since we took the blood samples from the heifers yesterday, they were ready to be hauled up to their mountain pasture. Now, historically, this trip is known for RAIN. Sure enough, scattered thunderstorms were predicted. Luckily, the rain held off until after we were done! It was a fast and crazy ride… cool weather, good…

Heifer Test

Posted on June 29, 2020June 29, 2020

It was a long day of gathering heifers and bleeding them for their 30 day pregnancy test. Brandon is the main guy for taking the blood samples from under the tail. I’ve done it a couple of times. Tess has done it. Today, Megan relieved Brandon twice, giving him a break. A little technical advice……

Re-Red: June 14 – June 20, 2020

Posted on June 28, 2020June 28, 2020

This week’s RE-RED includes: Lots of moving cattle… A well camouflaged frog/toad… A different, threatening cloud that Daniel and I comment on… and then we decided should get going towards home… and the basement! More moving cattle… Pairing cattle… I hope I don’t make you dizzy with my editing! I know one thing, I’m not…

Inspiration

Posted on June 26, 2020June 26, 2020

When Quinlan and Lorelei went with me the other day up to our Mesa Pasture… I had to check on a few things, so after admonishing them to stay away from the edge of the the 500′ canyon, I started to put my camera away. Quinlan asked if he could use it… and I handed…

A Simple Thing

Posted on June 23, 2020June 23, 2020

Things are never simple. I drove up to the Mesa Pasture to check the water for the cows. Someone must do this every day. I had Quinlan and Lorelei at the time. We pull up to the three water tanks at the top of 500′ Otter Creek Canyon. No water in the first tank, 1/3…
