Long Video… Yippee!

Posted on January 16, 2020January 16, 2020

Painful. Growing Pains. waaaa-waaaaa. But, by golly, I won! It’s posted on YouTube and it’s done! It was definitely a learning experience. Just FYI, it does take 12 hours to load a 23 minute video. I had to do it TWICE! I’m looking for input… if it’s too long, if it’s bad videography, if you…

SlowNet

Wow. I don’t know how people do it. I was ready to upload a long video for tonight’s post, and I knew I was late, but for some reason, I didn’t get around to starting to upload it to YouTube until 3:30 this afternoon. I figured, since it’s a 23 minute video that it would…

Babysitting and Videos

Posted on January 13, 2020January 13, 2020

Another day of babysitting while the crew brought in the last of the cows. It was sunny today, but very windy and not warm at all. I felt very lucky to hang with Reagan instead. The other kids got off the bus at four, and their parents followed at five p.m. to eat their “lunch”….

Babysitter

Posted on January 12, 2020January 12, 2020

They gathered the pasture today. I played my Fairweather Cowgirl Card and stayed home and babysat. It wasn’t a very pleasant day to ride, the wind came up, the sun went behind clouds and they had lots of cows to sort and trail in. In fact, they didn’t make it home until just at dark….

Minute Movie: Fencing Viewpoint

Posted on January 11, 2020January 11, 2020

Aha! Already! Another Minute Movie! Well, I’ve taken quite a bit of video lately… and even better, Megan has been transferring my videos to YouTube from Vimeo. While the quality of videos on Vimeo is exceptional, I have to say that my 150+ movies there aren’t finding an audience. EVERYONE goes to YouTube, including me……

Winter Fencing

Posted on January 10, 2020January 10, 2020

Vernon and, occasionally, the boys have been working on a fencing project. Not many people build fence in the winter, but, evidently, “we” do! Reportedly, the ground isn’t too frozen past the first few inches unless the area has been driven on or is bare ground, as that tends to drive the frost down. If…

Reagan, Age Two

Posted on January 7, 2020January 7, 2020

We take this break from our regular programming to share birthday photos, a month and a half late. Yes, we kept thinking there would be nice weather, etc., etc. But, no. So… just take a little cowgirl’s photos in the barn, where she’ll probably spend a lot of time anyway. Happy second birthday, Reagan. You’re…

Minute Movie: Badlands Panorama

Posted on January 6, 2020January 6, 2020

To complete the last two days of describing how we maintain the water for our cattle in the frozen Badlands, here’s a Minute Movie! I used to make Minute Movies all the time and have gone away from it. I’m getting back into them plus I’m going to try some much longer videos. Wyoming is…

Every Four Days, Part 2

Posted on January 5, 2020January 5, 2020

First, let me clear up a great question that was posted in my comments. Sometimes I don’t explain things clearly, which I apologize for! The pipeline in our Badlands Pasture brings water to tanks only. The tanks do need to have the ice chopped out and the floats freed so the water will enter and…
