Birthday Girl

Posted on April 29, 2018April 28, 2018

Thanks, everyone for the well wishes and concern over my tooth and pain issues.  I read all my comments even if I may not respond to all of them.  Those of you who shared your own stories… thanks for trusting me with your experiences.  For those of you handling similar crises, be strong, breathe, cry…

Diagnosis

Posted on April 28, 2018April 27, 2018

Things have been a bit discombobulated for me lately… awkward posts at various times of day… I think I may have missed one or two… and I debated about whether to share some personal stuff, which I normally wouldn’t, but maybe some good can come of my experience. Last week, I felt tooth pain coming…

Saddle Show

Posted on April 24, 2018

Among all the riding we’ve done the past few days… Daniel has been trying out his new saddle!  We’ve always just bought saddles used… or, “off the rack”, you might say… but never custom built! Daniel has a friend that makes saddles, though, and after riding one for a few days last year, he’s been…

Babysitter

Posted on April 23, 2018April 22, 2018

I wasn’t a cowboy today… I was a babysitter for five grandkids!  Thankfully, the day was a perfect spring day, and four kids played outside all day!  I did manage a few things for myself… and lunch for everyone, cowboys included. I had to share these pics. Lacee gave me the best giggle… And Lorelei…

Country Thing

Posted on April 22, 2018

More rotating cows, kids, and us… I babysat Jaxon, Lacee, and Reagan after I’d helped pair the heifers and their calves and sort them in the corral.  That gave Tess a chance to work.  Then came lunch.  After which I babysat Quinlan and Lorelei, and put them to work helping me clean out my garden!…

Why’s and Wherefore’s

Posted on April 21, 2018

Nothing like being late to the party, and everyone’s gone! I was 15 minutes later than I should have been, and the guys had already left the barn to move our first bunch of cows.  And they didn’t have my my horse saddled either! 😉. I zoomed, and caught up to help them pair up….

Cold Morning Calf

Posted on April 18, 2018

While spring tries to stand firmly, upright, hands on hips, in that defiant Peter Pan pose… Winter keeps blowing her down with late snow storms and gusty winds.  We are caught up in this bipolar condition… but, of course, not as badly as in early March when it was so cold during heifer calving season….

Cow Handling Tip of the Day

Posted on April 17, 2018

Although I posted this photo yesterday, I thought I might explain a bit of what’s happening. Sometimes cows can be very thrilled to be put out on fresh grass… and forget they have a calf. Sometimes cows can be thrilled it’s springtime… and forget they have a calf. Sometimes cows can be … mmm… like…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
