Happy Christmas

Posted on December 21, 2024

Ten Sleep’s Christmas parade. 4-H’ers decorate their pickup… Fire pits on Main Street for s’mores before the parade… Then, the parade… short but extra sweet with the theme of lollipops and gingerbread… And while little kids went to see Santa, Vernon and I went to the brewery for a cup of soup and a fireworks…

Collected Stories 16

Posted on December 20, 2024

The following is part of the papers in the Oscar Hoback collection as collected by Edna Greet.  Devine and his men disregarded the threat of the “Revenge Gange” and went to the Hole-in-the-Wall at the appointed time to gather their cattle, and on July 23, 1897, the fight occurred. A condensed description of the fight,…

Throwback Thursday: Perfect, v.2.0

Posted on December 19, 2024

This was first published December 19, 2014. Ah.  Maybe.  Maybe.  The end is in sight!  I feel better, but still am short on energy!  Still… I could get up and do short periods of work before I’d sit back down and rest.  I did finish the last of the presents for the grandsons… Now, my…

No Thyme

Posted on December 17, 2024

You know when you’re looking for something and it drives you nuts because you can’t find it? In my case, it was thyme. That wonderful spice that I need for my “pork loin in plum sauce” that I will be cooking for Christmas. I thought I had some. I knew I had some. So I…

Author Craig Johnson

Posted on December 15, 2024

Once again, author Craig Johnson visited the Ten Sleep Library. Over 80 people attended his synopsis of his latest novella, Tooth and Claw. He also read his Christmas short story entitled “Starter’s End”. Novels and Longmire merch were available for purchase. Fancy Christmas cookies and hot chocolate loaded our back room. We’re one of the…

Reminder

Posted on December 14, 2024

Wrapping presents, making candy, watching Christmas Chronicles 2 with Lacee and Reagan, followed by a third place showing by the librarian team at Trivia Night. Just an average before Christmas day. Just thought I’d remind you… I have a few calendars for $20 still available… And, for those of you local…

Collected Stories 15

Posted on December 13, 2024

The following is part of the papers in the Oscar Hoback collection as collected by Edna Greet.  In 1897, Devine, who was a very determined man, gave public notice that he intended to cover that region and recover anything with a CY brand on it. Bob and Al Smith, who were brothers-in-law, with Bob Taylor,…

Throwback Thursday: Local Mystery, v.2.0

Posted on December 12, 2024

This was first published December 13, 2014. OK, all you internet gurus…  I have a search for you!  On our little geology trip the other day, our neighbor showed us this. I know you can’t see it well here, but this gives you a perspective.  Halfway up the steep slope, under a little overhang… A…

New Toy

Posted on December 10, 2024

The guys bought a new toy. Many ranchers own their own tire changing machine, but we’ve never owned one. Until now. All those flat tires over the years… all those trips to town… the cost… the time… All that comes to an end.
