#TBT: Winter Herefords

Posted on December 15, 2017

A snapshot of days gone by… wintery scene with Herefords in our field. No date. (No idea whose hand that is either!)

Questions and Answers – December 2017 Edition

Posted on December 13, 2017December 12, 2017

Marilyn: Question: how is your new granddaughter? and the bigger siblings doing? Reagan seems to be doing fine.  I’ve actually not seen her much, she’s had lots of visitors, so I’ll bug her more when things are quiet again.  Big Brother is in love, Big Sister is not overly impressed at this point.  Eh, that’ll…

Clutch Record

Posted on December 12, 2017

I’d say my record stinks. Back a few months ago… this happened. Eleven chicks! It was totally a surprise as the hen did not set on them in the coop, but in some undisclosed location. Well, across the summer, eleven fell to six. Ah, the great life (and death) of free-range chickens that live with…

Mercury Glass

Posted on December 11, 2017

Every little bit, I’m trying to squeeze in some crafting. ‘Tis the season, dontchya know? I’m on a mercury glass kick right now… Those old, mottled, silvered/mirrored glass objects… not the real stuff, I probably couldn’t afford those.  Just a remake. I took some old vases and bottles… and some of Krylon’s cool mirror spray…

Arteest

Posted on December 10, 2017

Well, it made me smile, just because I’ve done the exact same thing… While I munched away on my hamburger, Quinlan began to draw the sales ring.  He did a pretty good job of it, too. There’s two cows in the ring, and he’s drawn in the ring men behind their safety barriers… plus three…

Sale

Posted on December 9, 2017

After dropping my two dogs off at the vet’s for another romantic appointment, we flew down to Riverton, Wyoming.  It was sale day for some of our yearling heifers. It all hinges on three minutes of auctioneering… but there’s all that time waiting for your cattle to show up in the ring. I brought in…

#TBT: Young Daddy

Posted on December 8, 2017December 8, 2017

With the possibility of some acupuncture in Lucas’ future now that the Good Doctor’s partner is certified for it, I thought I’d revisit Lucas’ one and only session way back in 2009.  The video is here if you’d like to see it. The next post caught my eye, and I just had to share a…

Fingers and Paws

Posted on December 6, 2017December 6, 2017

I’ve talked about it more than a few times on here… I mean, I live on a ranch… we raise animals of all sorts.  The guys are headed to a bull sale tomorrow, as a matter of fact.  We have bulls and stud colts and roosters and the occasional tom cat.  I’ve talked castration and…

Party Time

Posted on December 5, 2017

Spent pretty much all day doing last minute preparations for the Ten Sleep Library’s Open House and Silent Auction. We had wanted to make window silhouettes, and I had stayed up until midnight last night drawing and cutting out some Grinchy figures.  That meant a lot of taping and climbing on ladders today.  We had…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
