Local Mystery

Posted on December 13, 2014

OK, all you internet gurus…  I have a search for you!  On our little geology trip the other day, our neighbor showed us this. I know you can’t see it well here, but this gives you a perspective.  Halfway up the steep slope, under a little overhang… A cross is in a recessed rectangle… then…

Some Giggles

Posted on December 12, 2014

What do you do with two pups, one who needs to learn to relax a bit, one who needs to learn to have a little extra zip?  Well, while we weighed our calves today, Daniel’s plan was to tie them together. Eden is ready to rush and “get ’em” and she needs to learn to…

Fake Drake

Posted on December 11, 2014

He’s brilliant enough to look faked or enhanced, but he’s not… he’s just swimming in sunshine!

Small Town Library

Posted on December 8, 2014

Well, it’s over!  Our big night at the library is over and done!  Seems like I haven’t done anything else but prepare for this for WEEKS! We ended up with 139 items, which is pretty stinking good! I think our attendance was way down though, it seemed kind of empty in there to me, except…

Best Advantage

Posted on December 7, 2014

My last day before our Library Open House and Silent Auction.  Did I get everything finished I wanted to?? No. There never seems to be enough time. But I’ll donate a calendar, a soapstone, and maybe even some honey if I can part with it!!!  Then there’s this little item. These are made of local…

Hunter

Posted on December 6, 2014

She’s a hunter. Elsa was better by far than Dally or Lucas… Maybe Eden has inherited those genes from her Great Aunt. After training on some basic commands in the field (close to some calves for distraction and acclimation), I turned her loose with the “mouse, mouse!” command.  I didn’t really think she’d do too…

Calf Pen

Posted on December 5, 2014

If I had wanted to put them in there, I couldn’t have done it. They would have refused in a split second.  But now, they WANT to be in there.  There is no food, there is no water. They have bent the back panel a bit… little turds. I wonder what the chickens think when…

Every One

Posted on December 4, 2014

Holy cow!  What a rocking day at the library today! Decorating, tons of patrons, school facilities guy, more decorating, organizing and setting up new items for the auction… refreshed the 6th graders on research methods… opening packages, updating library facebook and emailing photos… answering questions, a few moments of dusting, rearranging and cleaning up the…

Rocks

Posted on December 2, 2014

We went on a little tour today.   A neighbor wanted to pick my brother-in-law’s brain… B. is a geologist, and this country is heaven and hell for geologists!  Heaven… because there’s a lifetime of work here, hell… because it’s not easy figuring out what is going on with all our anticlines, monoclines, faults, ridges, creeks,…
