Just Ducky

Posted on November 5, 2012April 3, 2015

After I finished canning the last 5 pints of salsa for the year, and cleaning house, and looking for calendar photos… I headed outside for some fresh air. I drove up and examined the center pivot from close up… still no power… and a few other things left to do… but I must say it…

Minute Slide Show: Shaw Pasture

Posted on November 3, 2012April 3, 2015

Yay! Accomplished this little job in between raking leaves and cleaning house! Amazing how easy it is if you don’t wait until 11 pm to do things like this! Here’s a little slide show, sharing our 5 hours of trailing cows to our Shaw Pasture. Beautiful day… 60 something degrees… no wind… barely any dust……

Oh, I really really need to catch up on my sleep… so the little slideshow I thought about making is going on tomorrow’s schedule. We moved cows again today… A gorgeous 5 hours of work! Hopefully, I can be creative throughout tomorrow and have it ready for you. Until then, Thursday morning’s sunrise was brilliant…

Minute Movie: Trailing By

Posted on November 1, 2012November 2, 2023

This Minute Movie is twice as long as normal… but I just couldn’t resist the peacefulness that saturates this video! We are letting the cows trail by… Vernon on horseback in the middle of the gate, getting a good count as they walk past.  Daniel leaves my side, and walks to the back of the…

Absolute Love

Posted on October 30, 2012April 3, 2015

Yay. The cows are about halfway down… the neighbors were kind enough to let us overnight in their pasture… Then, of course, instead of taking them to the fire ravaged Mesa Pasture, we’ll bring them on home. We, meaning the guys, because I’ll be on duty at the library. But I’m getting ahead of myself!…

Soft Cottonwood

Posted on October 29, 2012April 3, 2015

Well, I’m gonna be lazy tonight, folks. We’re gathering cattle tomorrow, which means NO SLEEPING IN!  (Especially for those silly enough to be up late posting on her blog!) Tonight? Just a bare cottonwood in soft focus… **** October 29, 2011   Looks Good! October 29, 2010   Water Is Flowing October 29, 2009   It’s Thursday… Puppy…

Snow Line

Posted on October 28, 2012April 3, 2015

I found it. About 8 pm. Under some gloves. In the mud room. Duh. So, to make up for yesterday, and because I couldn’t take photos today… The Big Horn Mountains… getting snow on the mountain tops… but notice, no snow down lower.  This is looking northeast… Now the Big Horns due east of us……

Daily Adventure

Posted on October 27, 2012April 3, 2015

I’m losing it. Seriously. After promoting myself yesterday as “The Amazingly Awesome And Cool Visual Finalist For BlogHer’s Voice of the Year Category”, I’ve just spent the last 23 minutes wandering around my house searching for my camera. Yup. Took some photos today. Yup. Was even gonna share. Nope. Can’t find my stinking camera! Now,…

Great Deal

Posted on October 26, 2012April 3, 2015

I’ve been writing this blog since January of 2008.  I’ve written on ranchlife and cows and farming and calving and horses and crafts and remodeling and my family and my job. Probably a few other things. In 2011, I was recognized by BlogHer, a community of women bloggers, for my visual story about a bald…

Snowstorm Toughness

Posted on October 25, 2012April 3, 2015

There’s all sorts of news today… *The shed is entirely gone… destroyed in an hour or so and hauled away after a few more hours.  Bare ground, a few poles, and some concrete chips are all that’s left. *The pivot is assembled and plumbed.  Electricity still needs to be changed and then rewired.  The roll…
