Posted on May 20, 2023May 21, 2023

I keep thinking I will make two videos. One of the local wildlife I’ve been filming and one where I will answer many of the questions that have been posed recently… then I start doing yard work and I get distracted! I’ve mowed and rototilled and cleaned and repaired and trimmed and pitched… and my…

Field Trip

Posted on May 5, 2023

While I couldn’t go along for the full length, my boss let me zip out and join Jaxon’s historical field trip to the Spring Creek Raid site. The presenter, you will recognize, was Clay Gibbons, who just gave the talk on Banditti of the Plains at the library. The Spring Creek Raid was held on…

#TBT: Family Tree, v.2.0

Posted on March 2, 2023

This was first posted March 1, 2012. Not long ago, I shared the beginnings of an undertaking with you… in As Time Goes By. It is my version of the Pinterest project usually called “painted family tree” or some such title. Like I said earlier, this is an ongoing job, as our family grows… so will…

So Many Ways

Posted on February 28, 2023

I tend to leave my housework partially finished because I want to do more exciting things… like craft or build or go help the guys… I’ll never win awards for housekeeping and I do regret that lack of ambition… but I want to be outside and wandering out to see what Vernon is doing in…

End with Smiles

Posted on February 14, 2023February 14, 2023

It seems hard to believe, but Lacee and Lorelei are old enough to be on a recreation district basketball team. They have both been excited, as they have watched their older brothers play and were anxious to give it a shot. So to speak. Lorelei has even been dreaming about basketball! Their first game was…

Little Bits

Posted on January 30, 2023

A very happy birthday to Tess! A big “I Miss You” to my mom… (Second from the left… wasn’t she a looker?) And a very cold morning… -32* here and Daniel had -44*… our walk in the sunshine was still only 3* by afternoon, but at least it was sunny. And I should have worn…

Helpers… Peanut butter balls coming up… plus she helped on peppermint patties too. Quinlan was the wassail and peanut brittle guy. We didn’t get to the marshmallows…

Birthdays

Posted on November 27, 2022

Happy early 5th birthday to little Miss Reagan. May you always be so thrilled to receive books! Another well wish for Megan, Reagan’s Birthday Buddy. It may be a day early, girls… but it doesn’t weaken the sentiment! I might as well wish my dad a Happy 93rd Heavenly Birthday today, too. It’s been 41…

Patriarch

Posted on November 13, 2022

It is with extreme sorrow that I share the passing of John Greet, December 24, 1930 – November 12, 2022. May he ride a smooth horse through green grass and find only gentle cattle (and a few wild horses to chase!) He will be profoundly missed.

#TBT: The Love of the Hunt, v.2.0

Posted on October 20, 2022

This was first published October 27, 2011. I chose this one, as Daniel has just bagged a Very Nice Mule Deer Buck… I’ve mentioned before… it’s hunting season around here. If you don’t appreciate that… perhaps you should skip this post.  Catch up with me tomorrow… But I’m gonna tell a huntin’ story! I grew…

New Award

Posted on October 18, 2022

The National Weather Service finally posted the award they gave Johnny last week. Fifty five years of weather observation! This was supposed to be given to him a year and a half ago… I was bummed I couldn’t make the presentation, but we had less than 12 hours notice! oh, well… It’s an amazing honor…
