Looking Again
Seems like we’re constantly looking for horses… and Brandon is trying out a new mare… She seems gentle… but is fairly ignorant of the “real life” we live. Many horses are stabled and corralled and rode only in arenas. Horses here must cross ditches, creeks, logs, and mud puddles. They must know how to walk…

#TBT: “His Job”, v.2.0
This was first posted September 27, 2010. The last part of the afternoon, we weighed our weaned calves. They’ve been in the corral, at least this bunch has, going through Mommy-withdrawal. That expresses itself in bawling for three or four days… and then they are over it. Before we turn this bunch out on…

Wordless Wednesday: “Root Wrap”
Brandon took this photo of a cedar tree root that had wrapped its way entirely around this rock. I loved the red shades… For a jigsaw puzzle of this photo, go HERE.

Artful Photography
Last Thursday I zipped over to Worland after work to attend a free photography class at the new library. Sponsored by Lifetime Arts, with support from Hahnemuhle Fine Art, the teacher is award winning artist, Barrie Lynn Bryant. The class is entitled, “Accessible, Meaningful, and Purposeful Photography” It goes for eight weeks and I think…

Ranchlife FUN: Youth Rodeo video
We had FUN the week of July 15-22! The Ten Sleep Youth Rodeo is held with local entrants… ones with 20 year old horses and ornery ponies and loving support from parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great-grandparents! I chose only to use a bit of music at the end so you could hear everyone wishing…
Whew
18 pints of tomatoes, 10 cups of Hatch green chilis (and some saved for fresh), lots of tomato juice that I hope to make into a spicy V8 imitation… and more tomatoes peeled that I gave to Megan, because… whew. Plus Reagan and I cleaned and refilled the hot tub for winter while everyone else…

Across the Scales
The calves are now used to being on their own. This is the “innocent” corral… it was the calves in the other corral that escaped and led us on a not-so-merry chase. They are back where they belong. We weighed the “good” bunch today. We keep all sorts of records on our cattle… even weighing…

Eager
Bravo is always eager for his walk. I’m never fast enough!

#TBT: Playing in the Dark, v.2.0
This was first published September 23, 2010. Playing in the dark… WAAAAAYYY back when… I was the youngest kid on the block, so I didn’t get to join in much… but we played a game called Sardines. It is the opposite of Hide and Seek, kinda, sorta. In the dark, with boundaries…
