Find Beauty

Posted on January 19, 2021January 19, 2021

One of my squares that I wood burned seemed to lend itself to a metallic look. I happened to have some metallic colored pencils, so I took a chance, and colored the square. At this point I was happy. Of course, I thought it needed to be sealed, but thought stain would be too dark….

Wyoming Ranch Life Recap – Jan. 1-7, 2021 – Video

Posted on January 18, 2021January 18, 2021

A re-cap of our Wyoming ranch life from January 1 – January 7, 2021. This video covers opening water holes for cows, a job that must be done daily, and the arrival of our new additions to our calving shed. After unloading the sheds, the guys have to go feed, and I go inside to…

Where I’m From

Posted on January 17, 2021January 17, 2021

Well, again, just a bit too busy to make a movie… but I’ll have Jaxon stand in for me tonight. Here’s a paper he did for school, and I’m a big fan of this style, and, you’ll have to admit, this is truly precious.

Bringing ‘Em In

Posted on January 16, 2021

It’s time. We’ve been very lucky to be able to leave our cattle out in this BLM allotment for the full period. Often, if there’s not enough grass, or water, or the snow is too deep for the cows to reach any grass, we have to bring them home earlier. That means feeding hay. The…

#TBT: Dally at Work 2010 Video

Posted on January 14, 2021January 14, 2021

I explained last week why I’ve chosen to replay some of my old videos from 2010. Feel free to research the reason, if you so desire, HERE. For this week, I chose a video of Dally driving calves out of the brush and down to the field where we will start feeding them hay. I…

More Bull

Posted on January 12, 2021January 12, 2021

Or should I have said, More Bulls? (To answer a question, these bulls probably average around a ton, the older ones are bigger than the young ones.) They know where they’re going… cattle are creatures of habit… they learn quickly the way to their pastures… just let them do their thing. I just sat there…

Easy Chore

Posted on January 11, 2021January 11, 2021

The end of this week will find us bringing our cows home from our BLM allotment. That means switching what cattle we do have here at home around just a bit to make room. They brought some bulls in from one pasture yesterday and Vernon wanted to bring them up here to our place today….

Stick Us With A Fork

Posted on January 10, 2021January 10, 2021

Gorgeous day. It began a little frosty at 3˚, but by the time Vernon had fed his calves and we’d had lunch, it was BLUE sky and SUNSHINE and in the 30˚’s. I let Vernon have a break, but on days like today, I want to do SOMETHING… So I asked. Wanna do anything? Go…

Vintage

Posted on January 8, 2021January 8, 2021

Johnny shared a couple more vintage photos with me. This one of Louise Greet and her brother caught my eye. The horse… maybe not the most gorgeous specimen. Round metal stirrups. That hat! Woolly chaps. Double saddlebags? Gun scabbard on the left side of the horse. The rope he’s holding looks very soft. But then,…
