’Tis the season. On my way home from Ten Sleep, I saw fox in four different places. The kits are tiny. At this spot, there were six little babies… It’s fairly difficult to get good photos, through the brush, in low light, with rambunctious subjects… I took a few little movies, I’ll see if I…
Throwback Thursday: Big Grin, v.2.0
This was first published May 2, 2015. On my way over the mountain to Kaycee, I stopped and had the opportunity to photograph a neighbor’s branding. It isn’t often that I get to crash a branding and not have a job! There was plenty of help, including two familiar faces. Daniel and the black horse…

Gorgeous Day
The last few little babies, minus the even younger ones, were trailed to the badlands today. We won’t brand them until they grow up a bit. After 1.44” of rain yesterday, today was one of those absolutely gorgeous days that makes for great photos.

The neighbors that had come to help us with our big branding, were now themselves branding their own herds, trying to beat the predicted rainy weather. No needles are involved just a squirt up the nose against respiratory diseases. Reagan was marking the nose showing that it had been done. They…
Great Job
I haven’t even shared all of my big branding photos, and we had another small branding today. It was just all of us family (Victoria’s three boys included) plus one friend… and we got the job done! Victoria remembered (quite well actually) how to rope… Then, we also had two new ropers in the pen….
Throwback Thursday: Surprise Me, v.2.0
This was first published April 24, 2015. A few days ago, when we moved some cows, I took Lucas along. Always my “short go” dog, I hoped it wouldn’t be too much for him. We did some work on foot, turning the cows through the open gate, encouraging the last few lost calves along, hoping…

Branding
It was a big day. While we’d planned this branding for Good Friday, a few inches of snow and cold canceled it. Today’s forecast was sketchy, with rain showers predicted but we thought we’d try to see if we could manage anyway. Vernon has been my number one helper since everything I do sends me…
