Success Story

Posted on February 23, 2019February 23, 2019

I went down to help work on the salt shed… but every little bit, Vernon would walk out of the shop and look down towards the field a good half mile. One cow was by herself, but we couldn’t figure out if she was calving or not. Supposedly, the girls in this bunch are not…

Framed

Posted on February 22, 2019February 22, 2019

I helped the guys out this afternoon. Weighing the little steers… Though the day started cold, grey, and snowy, by lunch, the sun had reappeared and we relished the warmth! Well, okay… maybe it wasn’t as warm as it felt… Yes… our corral is in sore need of repair. But what a frame!

#TBT: Cardboard Treasures

Posted on February 21, 2019February 21, 2019

As Johnny continues to clean and organize his basement, more cardboard boxes full of “treasure” have appeared. For instance, right now we have a box full of letters and cancelled checks and other papers from 1933-1949. The letter tells of the attempt to purchase 40 acres from Mr. M., as it would square off a…

Collection

Posted on February 19, 2019February 19, 2019

Adding to the collection… A couple of country scenes and the Green Man… A far out fox, some welcoming birds, and a silly llama!

Projects

Posted on February 18, 2019February 18, 2019

No more news on the chicken/egg front. Nothing else has hatched, but I’m still going to give her a couple of more days just to make sure… I can’t believe only one out of ten would be fertile, but who knows. I’ll attempt to break her from being broody if these don’t work out. Poor…

Pip

Posted on February 17, 2019February 17, 2019

On time, 21 days after my egg tragedy, I was prepared for a new strategy. Since moving the hen and eggs a day before their due date didn’t work, and leaving them alone last year only gave me a small survival rate, I was ready with a new idea. The plan is to let the…

Vernon took this photo of some willothewisp clouds… I think he did a great job.

#TBT: Oh, Else

Posted on February 15, 2019February 15, 2019

If you haven’t been here long, you probably never got to meet Elsa. I’m really sorry for you. She was sweetness and grace, loving and quiet (most of the time). It’s been six years today that I lost her. The post I wrote about her passing is one of my favorites because it tells of…

The Newest

One thing about sitting at a table at a trade show all day… I got to finish up and create my newest batch of spoons.

Ag Days

Posted on February 12, 2019February 12, 2019

Once again, it was time for the local WESTI Ag Days in Worland. If you remember, I was a speaker here last year, right before Vernon and I took our vacation to San Francisco. This time I wasn’t a speaker, but I had a few spoons, and jewelry, and photos, and paintings, and calendars for…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
