Mixup

Posted on August 3, 2017August 2, 2017

OK. Today is Wednesday. Except I thought it was Thursday. I woke up, showered, dressed, and DROVE THE TWENTY MILES INTO WORK. I was EARLY.  I was PROUD OF MYSELF. Then the other workers came in, and I realized… I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE TODAY. YEAH. Nothing like getting your day off to…

In Progress

Posted on August 1, 2017July 31, 2017

With the arrival of August, Wyoming is hitting the Solar Eclipse Mania full bore.  Every one is going crazy… there’s tshirts and warnings from first responder groups and people renting out spaces to park RVs. Vernon laughingly told me I should rent out my studio, even though we’re not in full totality here.  I always…

Variety

Posted on July 31, 2017July 30, 2017

Bent over nails in our barn door evidently provide an excellent place to scratch a horse’s bum… You’re welcome for the variety of photos I post for you! This one just made me snicker…

Start Somewhere

Posted on July 29, 2017July 28, 2017

Miss me? I worked late at our library’s astronomy program last night… We had a guest speaker with an 8″ Dobsonian telescope.  Since one of those is on my When-I-win-the-lottery List, I *had* to hang around until late. No #tbt this week… but… In a form of #tbt… Megan and I attacked our barn tack…

Partway Up

Posted on July 25, 2017

We trailed to our mountain pasture… our big workday… But this year, for me, it was a tad different.  Instead of riding, I had babysitting duty, watching five grandkids.  That freed up three people to ride instead of just me, so it made sense logistically, though I have to admit, I missed my cowboying job!…

There’s Hope

Posted on July 24, 2017July 23, 2017

Remember my tipi idea from a few days ago? I was feeling pretty down, no one thought my idea could work, at least those that knew construction materials.  Yes, a fiberglass tipi would fit the dream of tipis in Ten Sleep… But I am just on to “playing” with extended life and/or solid tipi for…

And Then This

Posted on July 23, 2017July 22, 2017

Small fire erupted this afternoon, most likely from a lightning strike yesterday or the day before.  My guys were right on it… and were joined by neighbors, Ten Sleep Fire, BLM, Worland Fire, and the Forest Service… plus a spotter plane, this helicopter, and two slurry bombers.  For more pics and video, follow Red Dirt…

Song of Wyoming

Posted on July 22, 2017

When our sunsets look like this… I remember this… “Song Of Wyoming” by Chris LeDoux I’m weary and tired, I’ve done my day’s riding, nighttime is rolling my way. The sky’s all on fire and light’s slowly fading, peaceful and still ends the day. Out on the trail, night birds are calling, singing their wild…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
