Must Bee Summer

Posted on April 10, 2016April 9, 2016

A summer day at 73˚!  The grass grew today for sure.  Within the past three days we’ve gone from an elusive “is it green, yet?” to “wow, Wyoming’s thrown her green gown on!” While I am trying to finish up some yard work, once it was warm enough, I gave up my rake and lawnmower…

Welcome Home

Posted on April 9, 2016April 9, 2016

A meadowlark seduces the stars and on the morning breeze, the glorious and unique song is brought forth… lighting the prairie in sparkles of notes. The sandhill cranes’ delightful song is much like an appealing grating of slate. Bluebirds twitter “truleee, truleee”. Each their own sign of spring. But until those large wings settle softly…

Goofball

Posted on April 6, 2016April 5, 2016

I can’t help it! I HAVE to show you the newest addition to my studio! This chair and couch have been stored for years… they aren’t anything very special… a wooden frame, fairly disgusting cushions.  But I have kept my eyes open and sure enough… I found cushions I wanted. Some with just the right…

Check Out the Chicks

Posted on April 5, 2016April 4, 2016

It’s hard to get chicks in focus. On the left is a 2 week old+ barred rock chick, on the right is one of my new brown leghorn chicks. What a difference a couple of weeks makes! They are twice the size of the babies.  Thankfully, they didn’t pick on them… or peck on them….

Wire Woven Pendants

Posted on April 4, 2016April 3, 2016

Whoops.  Forgot about those chick pics… let’s do the latest craft instead. I’ve been playing with copper wire. You’ve seen the heart before.  Now I’ve added two feathers to the collection.  The first one was two toned, and I didn’t like it because of the looseness of the wraps.  My second feather doesn’t have any…

Stepmom

Posted on April 3, 2016April 2, 2016

OK.  I got it backwards.  I was supposed to take pics of the new chicks, NOT the calf.  I didn’t figure any of you would really argue with me when I took pics of the little cutie pie, but, hey, if you’re a chicken lover… sorry about this. The little guy has been fed bottles……

Maybe

Posted on April 2, 2016April 1, 2016

My apologies for last night.  I was watching a show on Netflix… and it kept cutting out.  I’d tell it to try again, and it would quit.  Finally I gave up, came in to post, and my computer wouldn’t connect to the internet. After 11 pm, I don’t have a lot of patience. My new…

Close-up and Often

Posted on March 30, 2016March 29, 2016

The cutest little calf is a resident of our hay shed. It’s mom has gone AWOL. Vernon can’t figure out who its mom is… There’s no one bawling around like they lost their calf.  There’s no one with a tight bag wanting to feed a baby.  There’s no sign of anything that can help us…

More Spit Than Bubbles

Posted on March 29, 2016March 28, 2016

Sometimes life is Pretty Darn Good. Things seem to go along as planned… Oh, sure, once in a while things crop up that pose challenges. But nothing that a little hard work won’t eventually overcome. If you think about it… LIFE’S GREAT!  and pretty cool. Even if there’s more spit than bubbles. Remember those great,…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
