Peony Prize

Posted on June 30, 2023

Ack, I’m getting so far behind in keeping you current on happenings, but I can’t leave this entry out. I really enjoy making jelly and for a few years I’ve been wanting to try dandelion jelly and peony jelly. Well, I missed the dandelion season… but when Victoria was here last time and we had…

#TBT: Skinny Dipping, v.2.0

Posted on June 29, 2023

This was first posted July 2, 2012. This summer may become known as The Summer We Moved Cows Constantly. This morning we moved some down with the heifers we’d tested and moved yesterday.  There were only 30 pair or so… but they were brushed up on a point along the Nowood Creek.  Back in the…

Posted on June 28, 2023

For this Wordless Wednesday, the feature we call the Ant Hill has received so much rain, which runs through the ground until it meets solid rock, then it “weeps”. For a jigsaw puzzle of this, go HERE.

Recharge

Posted on June 27, 2023

It’s that time again… We trailed our first bunch to the Slope Pasture today. Four cowkids and three cowboys for most of the trip. The majority of the time we stop halfway at the Mesa Pasture, but not this time. It’s twice as far and then there’s mothering them up at the end… The cowkids…

Video Share

Posted on June 26, 2023

Today I’m sharing a couple of short videos I’ve made recently. One is the hailstorm that recently demolished my garden… The other video is about the event at the library yesterday. Lazy T Ranch brought in cowboy cook Kent Rollins for a book signing and block party. Approximately 300 fried bologna sandwiches were served. Red…

Why Do I Garden in Wyoming?

Posted on June 23, 2023

There’s a smell to it… a smidge of ozone from the lightning, an icy coldness, a mown grass scent multiplied with different leaf and stem scents, wet earth, and muddy water. This morning was spent finishing a new flower bed and planting some last few tomatoes. This is the before photo. Note the gorgeous basket…

My Muster Dogs

Posted on June 20, 2023

Once again I babysat, giving Victoria another chance at riding before she leaves tomorrow. Today was full of random rain showers and the cowboys did get wet. After they had returned home and gathered up children, the rain really let loose, and we’re putting the final gather on hold, as riding through slick mud and…

Send Them On

Posted on June 19, 2023

Well, after a tired night’s sleep, I didn’t wake up feeling as bad as when I went to bed! I could hardly walk last night, so waking up mobile was an improvement. Don’t get me wrong, I was plenty happy to stay home and recuperate. They had just a long a day today as yesterday…
