Posted on August 29, 2016August 28, 2016

Ya gotta love it, when you take salt to your cows… and see elk too! Well, at least it makes my day…

Office Pets

Posted on July 13, 2016July 12, 2016

If you follow me on Instagram (and you should!), you know I’ve been sharing other pics than what I post here.  The last few I’ve tagged with #mylife or #myoffice… hence, today’s pic entitled “Office Pets.” Sometimes pics don’t make the cut here… but do over there.  Sometimes they’re the same.  Life is interesting! See……

Back to Work

Posted on July 12, 2016July 12, 2016

My ‘vacation’ at Longmire Days is over… and it was back to ranch work today. Last night, coming over the Big Horn Mountains, I was caught in a rainstorm.  Not unusual, but the rain was so cold and the pavement so warm, it created a surf-like look of fog waves billowing for miles and miles. …

Zoom

Posted on April 12, 2016April 11, 2016

I was sent to town today with some parts that needed the machine shop… it gave me the chance to wander around town, checking out some things just for fun… I went to the bike shop… and test drove a Specialized Women’s bike… I liked it… the seat seamed comfy, it was more upright than…

Welcome Home

Posted on April 9, 2016April 9, 2016

A meadowlark seduces the stars and on the morning breeze, the glorious and unique song is brought forth… lighting the prairie in sparkles of notes. The sandhill cranes’ delightful song is much like an appealing grating of slate. Bluebirds twitter “truleee, truleee”. Each their own sign of spring. But until those large wings settle softly…

Wordless Wednesday – “Throwback Eagle”

Posted on December 10, 2015December 9, 2015

Since many of you were interested in the immature bald eagle from the other day… here’s a glance at my most infamous eagle story.  If you haven’t been reading Red Dirt for very long, you might be interested in this award winning tale.  Even if you have, Throwback Thursdays Wednesdays are always fun!  I’ve included…

Bald vs. Golden

Posted on December 9, 2015December 8, 2015

The photos I shared the other day are of a immature Bald Eagle.  While some of you guessed Golden Eagle (and I wasn’t too sure at first myself!) let me tell you why I think it’s a young Bald. First, and easiest… Goldens have feathers clear down to their toes.  Balds are fish eaters (or…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
