#TBT: Once Again, v.2.0

Posted on November 12, 2020November 12, 2020

This was first published November 11, 2009. It breaks my heart to see puppy noses from the past, knowing that Rimrock English Shepherds just cannot catch a break when it comes to raising puppies. I also look at these photos and smile, for I do have some wonderful memories of raising puppies. Dally and her…

Cattleguard Cleanout

Posted on November 9, 2020November 9, 2020

Twenty degrees with a slight snow falling… This morning was cold and not-so-pleasant. After lunch the sun did come out, although it only got up to 26 degrees, and I pulled myself away from crafting to go get some fresh air and photos! I ran into Vernon and Daniel and a neighbor working on our…

Sort The Cows – Video

Posted on November 8, 2020November 8, 2020

Honestly, I didn’t take enough photos for a typical Re-Red video this week! Neverfear… after all the cow work we did, I decided to make just a video on cow sorting. Sounds simply enthralling, right? Now, cow sorting is often when, if stories are to be believed, tempers run short and people end up yelling…

Trail-Sort-Trail

Posted on November 7, 2020November 7, 2020

While I was working at the library, they brought the cows down to the place we call “The Double Crossing”. The name stems from the old wagon road that had to cross the Nowood twice right here. The modern highway doesn’t cross the creek at all, thanks to big dirt moving machines. You often are…

Simple Stones

Posted on November 6, 2020November 6, 2020

I spent the day trying to find my house underneath all my junk. Clean clothes, dirty dishes, cardboard boxes saved to use for stencils, and piles of junk mail. Once I got my kitchen clean, I turned around and made a dessert to go with supper. Well, the kitchen was clean for half an hour……

#TBT: Living the Dream, v.2.0

Posted on November 5, 2020November 5, 2020

This was first posted November 1, 2009. Another day of cow work…What are we? Ranchers? Oh…yeah…The cows we fought to put in the Ritchie pasture last night were gathered this morning. <Daniel and Vernon are both visible – if you squint – in this photo> Dally was chosen for the long-ish day of work. Elsa…

I Usually Don’t Share This…

Posted on November 2, 2020November 2, 2020

So, as I’m getting ready for work this morning, I asked Vernon what his plans were for the day. “Bringing the cows off the Mesa.” What? Waaaaaa… I don’t normally work Mondays. Here it was, the most gorgeous day… and I miss moving cows for some inside work. Rats. Rats. Rats. I quickly text Megan…

Ranch Life Revisited

Posted on November 1, 2020November 1, 2020

We revisit the week of October 18 – October 24, 2020. The week covered pumpkin carving, fog laying in the Big Horn Basin, goldfish transfer, a big snowfall with grandkids sledding while their parents were on the mountain gathering cows, the beginning of the bear wood burn, and some of our horses enjoying their fresh…
