Weight

Posted on November 19, 2017November 20, 2017

Weight is important. A rancher’s paycheck is based on the weight of his cattle.  If he sells calves or steers or old open cows, the price bid is based on the weight and condition of the animal. We keep a close eye on weight.  We take actual weight on newborn heifer calves.  We weigh them…

Laser Thoughts

Posted on November 18, 2017November 17, 2017

Forgot my camera.  I know. I *always* have it with me… and it was only 50′ away… but Lucas and I were in the vet’s office for a laser treatment today, and I didn’t remember it until he had his little goggles on and the vet tech was giving him his treatment. There’s nothing seriously…

Got It

Posted on November 17, 2017

Germbuckets

Posted on November 15, 2017November 14, 2017

There may be ONE drawback to having grandkids so close… And, granted, it may not be their fault… but they tend to be germbuckets, hauling home various bugs.  Not the kind with six legs either. I think I’m over it… but Vernon continues to suffer. Not bad enough that he couldn’t go out and dig…

Cold Water

Posted on November 12, 2017

On our walk, Lucas and Eden decided the creek temperature has fallen below acceptable levels, and while a few weeks ago, they would have splashed across, in, and through… Today they paused at the edge to see if I was really going to cross the creek.

Slow

Posted on November 11, 2017

It seems to be a pretty slow time for me… There’s not a lot of work they need me for right now.  The guys are working on and off on a pipeline… is there a break, why don’t they have water here, is the storage tank full, what if we do this… all sorts of…

Fog Again

Posted on November 7, 2017

We seem to be living in a fog. Literally. Another grey day where it tried very hard to snow, but didn’t accumulate even 1/2″. I passed the day under the supervision of Lorelei who encouraged me to wash my dishes and mop my floor… But then declared it was time to paint!  I agreed.  Nothing…
