I sit here, blanket across my lap, listening to rain (again) and knowing that at 35˚ present temperature, I’ll probably wake up to snow in the morning. There HAS to be more fall coming our way, but these days of winter’s visits seem to be getting closer together and colder and lasting longer. Sigh. Time…

I spent most of the morning in a dentist’s chair.  Thankfully, they took the time to move the process along… I hate having short appointments and then go back in two weeks… and then another two weeks.  I love that they understand when you live far enough away, you don’t want to spend so much…

I am thrilled with all of the name ideas you guys have come up with… Here I thought I was about to make a decision… and now… hmmmmmmmmmmm. Keep ’em coming, I love them all! I took them for a walk today… and promptly my battery died.  I have two spare batteries in my case,…

PuppyPuppy

What a grey and drizzly day! Rain has moved into the cowboy state once again…  lending itself to thoughts of fires in woodstoves and projects to wrap up. I chose from a few today… cleaning the house, that perpetual beast that looms over my shoulder constantly… working on the 2015 Red Dirt Calendar… and spending…

Once Again

Posted on September 27, 2014

Last week I met with a wonderful person.  Friend of a friend, faithful reader of this blog, and computer nerd, if I may call her that…  She had found where she could look up the name of the photo I have used on every blog post since the beginning. The beginning.  In 2008!!!! What does…

Good Books, Good People

Posted on September 25, 2014

Well, I’m down in Casper attending the Wyoming Library Association meeting.  Internet has been spotty, with absolutely none in my hotel room.  So here I sit, in the wide main hallway at 10:30 at night, typing away on my ipad. It is always an enjoyable meeting, with great ideas to take back to Ten Sleep…

Missed

Thanks to all of you for your condolences about a little black dog… I keep running across photos of him… He’d manage to sneak into the shot especially when I was trying to get something I could submit to the English Shepherd Club for their calendar.  In fact, Boomer made it to the cover one…

Boomer

Posted on September 22, 2014

Born: May 26, 2004 – Died: September 22, 2014 A lightning show of thunderboomers lit up the evening sky tonight.  Safe travels, Boomer. The last two photos were taken by my sister-in-law on her visit last week.  Thank you, C., for these… Boomer was buried with a stick.

Close to the Action

Posted on September 21, 2014

That time of  year again… when the Good Doctor spends an entire day with his hand and arm being squeezed by the strong muscles of a cow’s ending digestive tract.  That explains why his entire left side is green by the time he’s done.  With their calves weaned already, there was much less bawling and…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
