Then There Were Six…

Posted on December 20, 2009January 7, 2015

I had three pups leave today… Toffee goes to Arizona with Ginny and Tom Baker.  Ginny says her cows regularly put them on the fence and she wanted an aggressive female.  Toffee is that!  Continually in dispute with brother Pate for Alpha position, Toffee is in the lead to do it all!  She has great…

Time to Let Go

Posted on December 19, 2009January 7, 2015

Well, I ignored any other calls for help today and literally “focused” on the pups today… 196 photos later… I’m satisfied. We went for a short walk over to the haystack… full of deer and rabbit droppings and other exciting new smells… tunnels… and fencelines. Then later a certain fat man came to visit… Today…

O.1538753 Seconds

Posted on December 18, 2009January 7, 2015

First of all, here’s the photo of the young golden eagle from yesterday.  My camera was left in the car and I was too lazy to walk out in the cold and retrieve it last night. I just hope he remains intimidated by all my dogs and the puppies don’t resemble fat little bunnies… ***************************************************************************…

Chef’s Surprise

Posted on December 17, 2009January 7, 2015

The day turned out to be a chef’s surprise… a pinch of this, a tad of that, extra seasoning here, and a full dose of that something special. A golden eagle landed in the branches of my cottonwood, and Elsa, good mother that she is, barked and scolded it.  I glanced out the window and…

Car Broke

Posted on December 15, 2009January 7, 2015

I had my work cut out for me today.  My vet has had no calls up this way, and since I’m 45 miles away from him, I’m too cheap to have him make a special visit (and charge me for mileage)!  That simply means I’m hauling 9 puppies to town for their shots and worming….

Wood Fires Comin’ Up!

Posted on December 14, 2009January 7, 2015

The boys are home for Christmas break and we’ve kept the labor intensive jobs waiting for them. Vernon bought a new chainsaw… so Daniel’s sawed and Brandon has split some really great fir trees logged off of our mountain pasture. This log splitter was given to us by Vernon’s Uncle A.  Uncle A. helped us…

Magic in the Air

Posted on December 12, 2009January 7, 2015

We need a little Christmas… I spent today decorating my tree… I don’t have any personal ornaments on it this year. I just decided to go with a different look. It is gold and red… with pinecone shaped glass ornaments, red beads, jinglebells, gold ribbons, icicles, and red berries. A large bow tops the tree,…

Puppy Photos…Better Late than Never! Part Five

Posted on December 11, 2009January 7, 2015

Well, this will be the last time I take a “formal” portrait of this litter.  The rest of the photos will be adventurous and candid photos… enjoying them the last week they’ll be here.  The time has gone extremely fast… and I’m finding myself behind on many of the typical chores I do for them….

Tracking a Monster

Posted on December 10, 2009March 25, 2015

The clouds have lifted a bit and warmth is supposed to return this weekend.  The high is due to hit the 30’s… which means an increase of 60 degrees from the other morning.  Although some days it snowed all day long the accumulation is pitiful… perhaps a couple of inches.  Needing to “air” ourselves out……
