I’m struggling with a cold on top of sore muscles… but I had two cases of tomatoes sitting on my floor from Wednesday. After boiling and peeling and dicing, I just had to walk outside on this gorgeous fall day. There may be a storm coming, and there’s definitely colder weather on the way. Our…

Concrete Day
Holy moly. I don’t think I’ve been this sore in a long time. While I initially helped spread the concrete, I soon switched to finishing. Troweling. Running the bull float. Edging. Once my sidewalk was done, they poured three pads for water troughs. Then they moved to Brandon and Megan’s house for a sidewalk and…

#TBT: Snowstorm Toughness, v.2.0
This was first posted October 25, 2023. There’s all sorts of news today… *The shed is entirely gone… destroyed in an hour or so and hauled away after a few more hours. Bare ground, a few poles, and some concrete chips are all that’s left. *The pivot is assembled and plumbed. Electricity still needs to…

Wordless Wednesday: Basin View
While I had to spend my day working in the library, the rest of the crew brought some cows down on this glorious fall day. Megan snagged this beautiful panorama of Tess and Jaxon, while I had to crop it down to fit the standard jigsaw puzzle size. Note the snow on the Absaroka Mountains…

On My List
I came home from my town trip on Monday to this! I’ve lived in this house since 2010. This has been on my list ever since. This sidewalk has been a pain in the winter. Below the grass level, it often was a skating rink. It was safer to walk in the snow and grass…

Hunter Fest
Before the Harvest Dinner is the Hunter Fest. Booths with crafts and Search & Rescue and National Forest and smoked cheese and baked goods. I had grabbed Vernon’s welding helmet so I could continue to watch the eclipse. Soon I was passing it around, letting everyone have a chance to view it. Thanks to Bill…

Wonderful Place
Once again, our little community came together in support of our ambulance and library. The Harvest Dinner served over 300 people. The school cafeteria was packed. The Friends of the Library were ready with raffle items and auction items. Thanks to everyone for your support. You make Ten Sleep a wonderful place!

Quite the Treat
Victoria texted me a photo of her three boys out observing the eclipse this morning. Oh, crumb. I’ve been all in a tizz trying to get things organized to attend HunterFest and the Harvest Dinner. I had spaced it! I was just loading stuff in the car when I decided I should grab a welding…

First White Layer
Wowza. Two point two inches of rain in the past day and a half! We’re not very used to that much rain at once. This has definitely been a great year for moisture and it has changed the look of the country with green grass *still* at the base of the dry tops. That moisture…

#TBT: Next Assignment, v.2.0
This was first published October 14, 2012. She still hasn’t received her assignment! Earlier this summer, this little pen looked like this: We have used it for some calves, though ever since a big windstorm and our purchase of the Mills Place, it hasn’t done heavy duty. The windstorm did quite the number on the…

Wordless Wednesday: Visitor on Top
For a jigsaw puzzle of this magnificent tree, go here. Note the visitor on the topmost branch.

Goofing Around Video
After hours on horseback, sometimes it’s fun to get a little silly to brighten up the day. It’s easy to get numb… your legs, your butt, your mind. I made up a radio station and interviewed a few of our crew.
