Class Reception

Posted on February 26, 2022February 26, 2022

Last night, Victoria and her boys had come to visit, and as Toria and I stayed up late talking, I leaned back in my recliner and Pop! Suddenly, my decorative lights went out. “What did you do?” she asked? Come to find out, when I leaned back, an electrical cord got sliced in half by…

#TBT: In The Mood for Babies, v.2.0

Posted on February 24, 2022February 24, 2022

This was first posted February 24, 2011. Well, we have babies! Two as a matter of fact! No pictures simply because I wasn’t told about them until after 6 pm when Vernon arrived home for supper.  Honestly, I was at the Master Cattleman class again so I wouldn’t have been around anyway… We’ll see if…

Helping Hand

Posted on February 22, 2022February 22, 2022

Clouds nestled down on top of us this morning, the grey sky dropping more snow, the wind staying at a whisper, the temperature frigid. My chickens were left locked in their warm coop. I made my way to Megan’s house to apply another coat of poly on the sunflower table. The sudden call of a…

Cold and Crafts

Posted on February 21, 2022February 21, 2022

The temperature has been in the single digits most of the day, with snowfall of about 3”. Right now, we’re setting at -3 with a 3 mile per hour wind. I’ll certainly take it over the 99 mph wind gust measured down along I-25 today! Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be 3. Definitely not pleasant….

3, 2, 1, Action!

Posted on February 20, 2022February 20, 2022

Years ago, we did it. And, no surprise to me, I blogged about it HERE. (One of the best things about blogging for so long… I can go back and read my entries and get a kick out of my own stories!) But that was years ago. While it worked well for a few seasons,…

Last Class

Posted on February 19, 2022February 19, 2022

The last class for Ledger Art Tradition was held today. Next Saturday will be our artist reception. Today, I chose to draw Vernon’s grandmother. This has always been a favorite of mine. I chose to draw her on some vintage 1933 letter paper. I also included a 1936 check to “Our Selves” for $5.00 and…

A Bit More

Posted on February 18, 2022February 18, 2022

As calving season creeps closer, we keep an even closer eye on the weather if that’s possible. We should have been calving in January as nice as the weather has been. This last snowstorm was predicted to be either 1”-3” or 3”-5” depending on which weather app you wanted to believe. Thursday morning I measured…

#TBT: Happy With It, v.2.0

Posted on February 17, 2022February 17, 2022

This was first posted February 19, 2011. As I’m finishing up a table, it’s great to look back and see how I did with my entertainment center upcycle. Here she was. And here she is… Complete. OK, Dori, I still haven’t installed your remote so the door can stay shut.  Someday… I LOVE my “old” glass…

Ranch Living Video

Posted on February 15, 2022February 15, 2022

This short video tells of middle school basketball games with the grands, some alcohol ink crafting, our young bulls, an amazing sun pillar, Bravo reenacting Lucas’ award winning photo, and a short walk through the fields. Not a long video… but life is quiet here for now.

Deception

Posted on February 13, 2022February 13, 2022

I have two hens that are broody… claiming eggs, setting, pecking me when I steal them from under their warm feather bellies. Since both of my roosters met their fate a month or more ago, I kept trying to explain to the hens that being broody was simply a waste of time. Neither believed me….
