#TBT: Highway 2.0 Views, part 1 and 2, v.2.0

Posted on March 31, 2022March 31, 2022

These were first published in March and April of 2011. Tonight you get a two for one! The thing I enjoy the most while traveling, is just to see how other people live. Now, granted… central Nebraska is not that far removed from central Wyoming…   but I still noticed a few things.   Like…

Sunday Drive

Posted on March 29, 2022March 29, 2022

Spring fever has hit. Dry roads. Warm weather. Tinges of green. After Vernon finished his feeding duties and we’d grabbed lunch, we were in the side by side for a Grand Tour. We didn’t make it far. The mountain road is still slushy and drifted with snow, though the warmth of the sun was working…

Spring Jobs

Posted on March 28, 2022March 28, 2022

I awoke to a cloudy morning… and a plan. I’ve neglected my pantry for a while and had decided to reorganize it. Since it doubles as a store room, it wasn’t going to be easy. That room has been a mess since Christmas, as I was determined to haul the majority of my Christmas decorations…

Eh, Not Bad

Posted on March 27, 2022March 27, 2022

Continuing my project from yesterday… My garden barrel has been measured, drilled, and sawed. Go HERE to see how that was done. Now begins the slower work of forming the cups that will hold each plant. I borrowed Vernon’s little propane torch. I heated the barrel in a slightly squished circle by my marked lines….

New Project

Posted on March 26, 2022March 26, 2022

I’ve been stumbling along through YouTube videos, lately fixated on garden ideas. Somewhere, this website popped up on my feed. It talked of an amazing garden tower and I became fascinated. This garden tower was the size of a fifty five gallon drum with various slotted cuts on it. Nothing too earth shattering, but there…

It’s Nice

Posted on March 25, 2022March 25, 2022

Honestly. 57 degrees today. 70 something predicted for Sunday and Monday then back to the 40’s with moisture on Tuesday. It’s hard on the baby calves… these temperature swings. But it is what it is… and besides, like Vernon said today… it’s nice to wear shoes again. Wearing snow boots or muck boots is amazingly…

#TBT: Sex and the Country, v.2.0

Posted on March 24, 2022March 24, 2022

This was first posted March 28, 2011. I almost didn’t post this, as I’ve shared it multiple times… but it makes me laugh… this and the few posts before and after. My trip to Nebraska for a dog breeding was memorable! (part two)   So, I’d done the Matchmaker part…   checking pedigrees and working…

Eye Roll Emoji Continued

Posted on March 22, 2022March 22, 2022

(Continued from yesterday) We’d found the calf. Momma had hightailed it over a hill in search of it. Insert eye roll. Victoria and her son Matthew had quickly followed her trying to get ahead and turn her around. Turning a cow on foot isn’t easy, trying it in snow and mud makes it fairly impossible….

Eye Roll Emoji

Posted on March 21, 2022March 21, 2022

Sometimes… cows can remember a hole in the fence they went through ages ago, sometimes… they can’t remember where they left their calf. Insert eye roll here. Was it on this side of the road or that side? Victoria and kids are here over spring break and when we finally arrived to see if the…

Spring Treats

Posted on March 20, 2022March 20, 2022

Happy spring! A high of 57* yesterday, warm and blustery this morning, aaaaannnnddd now it’s snowing. Yup. Just when the mud was getting dried up… though, am I complaining about moisture? Heavens, no! My house was full today with Quinlan, Lorelei, and Megan… Megan’s washing machine is out of commission, and believe me, you need…
