Wordless Wednesday – “Didn’t Make the Cut”

Posted on December 1, 2016November 30, 2016

Although I liked this pic, she didn’t make the cut into the 2017 Red Dirt calendar… (and, no, she’s not ours) <click on the box below to complete a jigsaw puzzle of the above image> Cold Longhorn

Wreath

Posted on November 30, 2016November 29, 2016

Spent most of the day creating the Friends of the Library wreath for our local Festival of Trees this weekend.  It was cold and WINDY outside, so I was perfectly content to hang out, decorate, and keep an eye on Miss Phryne Fisher… that’s Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries on Netflix. Victoria told me about this…

Survivors

Posted on November 29, 2016November 28, 2016

Yeah… a little romantic prose and then… the stomach flu hits us and we all feel just… peachy. I’m finally back to normal tonight, but behind in everything. Another photo to pass the time… We are survivors around here! A nice whitetail buck wouldn’t pose for me… he’s safe for this year. This is about…

Peering

Posted on November 27, 2016November 26, 2016

Every time I turn around, I swear I find another dirty dish, another mislaid toy.  They echo of family, and life, and the Grace of God. I hope you enjoyed your holiday weekend. The guys are moving hay around, preparing for the day when the cows will have to be fed. I cleaned my house…

I Don’t Wanna…

Posted on November 23, 2016November 22, 2016

Trying to clean and cook and accomplishing neither.  So I did what all good procrastinators do… I went and helped the guys with the heifers!  Besides, it had gone from grey and gloomy to a nice, sunshiny day… and I don’t wanna cook when it’s nice outside! The boys had already processed many of the…

My Number is 555…

Posted on November 22, 2016November 21, 2016

It’s a toss-up.  Go to town for groceries… or help the guys process the heifers.  There’s a storm coming in tonight, which means I won’t feel like driving the 47 miles to the grocery store… and the heifers will be too wet to age brand… so. I decide to help the guys for *half* a…

Mud and Snow

Posted on November 21, 2016November 20, 2016

Well, it started to melt off today… but another storm is due tomorrow.  We’re at that lovely stage that starts a day frozen, icy, and cold, but by midday is a slimy, muddy, bog.  At least I have a huge “mud room” so that four cold, wet, happy, screaming grandkids can all come in and…

Ag-Thankful

Posted on November 20, 2016November 19, 2016

One of the things that has happened to me while writing this little blog, is the internet friendships I’ve forged. First of all, there are you guys, my faithful readers, who comment and encourage, or are quiet but helpful in your own way… 😉 There are people like Kari in Montana… who wrote the funniest…

Calendar and a Contest!

Posted on November 19, 2016November 18, 2016

It’s currently 18˚ with six or so inches of snow on the ground… and, I stayed inside all day!  A bit of housework, but for the most part, I let my calendar rule my day. It’s finished. It’s ready for order. I hope you like it! I’m sure you would like to preview it… and…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
