Sweet!

Posted on November 2, 2016November 1, 2016

I had help in my beeyard today!  A friend wanted to learn about top bar hives.  I shifted into “Teacher Mode” and explained everything as best I could.  Not only is this a great honeycomb, but I love that I managed to catch a bee flying straight towards my camera!  See it above the tire?…

Trunk or Treat

Posted on November 1, 2016October 31, 2016

It’s time once again for Trunk or Treat at the Ten Sleep Town Park. There was this REALLY SCARY GHOST that came out of the Red Hills and took candy from everyone!  Oh, my, he was SCARY! Then Thomas the Tank Engine came along.  He was a little unsure of things, but as usual, learned…

Tucked In

Posted on October 31, 2016October 30, 2016

Hooves scraped on lichen-crusted stone.  The crackle of dried Mule’s Ears flowers caused even the dirt to make noise as we walked through. My hand reached out, brushing the tops of sagebrush, fanning the scaly needles of juniper, returning to rest on the work-etched leather of my chaps. I held the reins loosely, giving Panama…

Proof

Posted on October 29, 2016October 28, 2016

Moving another bunch today. Dally takes a break in a puddle that has formed in an old buffalo wallow. Jekyll returns to Brandon’s call.  This was his first official drive.  He did well! My stirrup took a little juniper along for camouflage. I had Brandon take a picture of me… to prove we are cowboys……

#TBT: Dapper

Posted on October 28, 2016October 28, 2016

I do not know who Clarence Wilcox was.  I do not know where he lived.  I do not know where this picture was taken.  I do know he appears to be quite the dapper young cowboy.

Made His Day

Posted on October 26, 2016October 25, 2016

Fall causes work: those items that need to be put away for winter, lawn chairs, toys, the trampoline… another round with the lawnmower grabbing leaves for the compost pile… organizing the garage and sweeping summer’s dirt away… there’s more items for the list, but only so many hours in the day. The little calves need…

Lost Blue

Posted on October 25, 2016October 24, 2016

You have to return to “normal life” so fast when these quick trips are over… how do dishes and clothes stack up so badly when you’re gone for just two days???? The guys started work on the water in the badlands pasture.  We will move the cows there in a week or so, so water…

Greeley Hat Works

Posted on October 24, 2016October 24, 2016

(Reminder: I won a contest from Beef Magazine for one of my Cowboy Santa photographs.  This is the result!) The flying trip to Greeley was over last night, and we even arrived home at a decent hour, but I didn’t have any photos since the girls were in charge of taking pics for me… and…

Oh, Toto

Posted on October 22, 2016October 21, 2016

I’m not in Wyoming any more… Ok, that doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, but it’s true. I’m in Fort Collins, COLORADO!  Megan and Tess decided to give me my Christmas/birthday presents early by bringing me down to all these people and all this traffic to pick out my custom cowboy hat! I…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
