Artwork

Posted on January 25, 2016January 24, 2016

Well, seems as if I spent my Sunday cheering on the Denver Broncos to Superbowl 50!  It was a dramatic and traumatic game… sorry if you’re not a football fan, but I have been all my life.  Well, at least for those teams I care about!  I sure can’t just watch football CONSTANTLY. I also…

Go! WYO!

Posted on January 24, 2016January 23, 2016

Have to share this little crafty project I just finished last week for a friend’s birthday. She’s an avid University of Wyoming fan… following sports of all kinds… hence, “Steamboat”, the bucking horse logo. It’s all done with brown, tan, and gold Sharpies. I rather like ’em! Go! WYO!

Blogoversary and a Winner!

Posted on January 22, 2016January 22, 2016

Yup. 2008 was when Shreve from Daily Coyote told me to go for it… start my own blog… and I did.  That first year I wasn’t consistent until fall when, after another cup of coffee at the cafe, Shreve told me to be dedicated.  I stepped it up… and barring slow or non-existent internet, family…

Done With That Chore

Posted on January 20, 2016January 19, 2016

Today was a repeat of yesterday… except this time, we vaccinated heifers.  Remember, heifers are our young two year old cows that haven’t had a calf yet.  These will be the ones we will watch over very closely… doing 4 hour checks throughout the day and night. Of course, there aren’t as many as yesterday,…

Good Day

Posted on January 19, 2016January 18, 2016

A little cow work today… Daniel, on the left, is giving a mineral supplement… so the girls are getting the right balance of nutrients…  Brandon is worming them, because cows eat grass where things have pooped and ingest worms which grow and then are pooped out for other things to graze and get worms… Yeah,…

Every Morning

Posted on January 18, 2016January 17, 2016

Every morning this time of year, the guys are all doing a version of this. Whether they’re driving or pitching, or running an automatic bale feeder… they are out there first thing, feeding calves, steers, heifers, cows, and bulls! It doesn’t matter what the temperature is. It doesn’t matter if they don’t *want* to roll…

From Stuff to Dog Bed

Posted on January 17, 2016

There may be a few people who wonder why I keep stuff… Vernon included… I mean look at these outdoor cushions! Rescued barely in time from Eden’s puppy teeth!  Yes, I did throw the others away!  These have been sitting in a sack, along with that worn out blanket.  Today, I joined them together. Not…

Tell Your Friends

Posted on January 16, 2016January 15, 2016

Sorry, I missed last night.  The internet has been painfully slow and spotty.  I even had a hard time texting and that’s the simplest thing to do…  I just got fed up fighting it and went to bed! I expected to be on horseback this morning.  The guys gathered the badlands pasture yesterday (while I…

Truth be Told

Posted on January 13, 2016January 12, 2016

Three days of babysitting Quinlan and Lorelei during the day… which included… and some of this…Led me to sit here and relax when everyone else went to Riverton today to see these heifers sell.  I was very happy to read and clean and watch and create and dismantle Christmas ALL BY MYSELF. Truth be told,…

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
