So Tall

Posted on July 29, 2015July 28, 2015

Cows to the mountain! Short night, long day.  I ran the “chuck wagon” which is entirely weird for me… but that meant I got to use my big camera.  I always forget what better photos it takes! I took Eden and Dally, and they were confused with me in the car not horseback… but when…

Love a Few

Posted on July 28, 2015

I’d love a few prayers sent winging their way to Wyoming for my sister.  She is undergoing surgery today on her hip… long story, long night.  Thanks!

Helpers

Posted on July 27, 2015July 26, 2015

The last bunch of cows is now on the Mesa Pasture!  Yippee!  Of course, that also means that we will have our BIG trail drive on Tuesday to take them to our Mountain Pasture.  That means we will pack up for a snack and big picnic lunch…which means I need to go shopping tomorrow… ick! …

Trailing Along Video

Posted on July 26, 2015July 25, 2015

It’s been a while since we had a video… This one is a bit longer, but I thought I’d show you a couple of things. We usually don’t trail this way, it tends to be more of a cross-country, bush-whacking kind of trail we do… or just a two track road… but, from the pasture…

Brush Up

Posted on July 25, 2015July 24, 2015

Here’s something else you might not think of when it comes to gathering cattle… If it’s hot, they brush up, aka, seek shade! See that lonely little cedar bush? Well, Dally notices something and Eden is watching her mentor intently… Out pops a calf with Dally soon to follow!  Atta girl, Dally. Sometimes it’s hard…

Captured

Posted on July 24, 2015July 23, 2015

Mornings lately have been filled with cowboying.  My boys have been working every day, bringing in our little bunches from different pastures, vaccinating the calves and then trailing them up to the Mesa Pasture.  I’ve been available some of those mornings since Longmire Days and the Kids’ Rodeo is now over… Two days ago, here…

Questions and Answers- July 2015 Edition part two

Posted on July 21, 2015

I had this finished last night and then lost it when my internet connection faded in and out and in and out…  Let’s try again! Linda: Question that you may have already answered, but I missed it. You posted about that hilarious (sorry bulls) post about those bulls’ equipment getting, uhm, broken. And you’ve also…

Questions and Answers – July 2015 Edition

Posted on July 20, 2015

Rosemary asked:  How many acres is your ranch? Is all of that useable grazing land? Do you also run cattle on federal land leases? Rosemary, welcome to Red Dirt country!  I guess I haven’t discussed this in a Q&A for a while, so I suppose it’s time.  I understand the thought behind the question… kind…

Long Live Longmire – Quick Pics

Posted on July 20, 2015

Here’s part of the BBQ… wandering around were all the actors… working the crowd.  I’m sure they are all ready to tip over, it’s been a big three days for them, but they’re still gracious, signing autographs and taking 10 bazillion photos again.  Since I have had my pics taken with them, I just took…

Squeal!

Posted on July 20, 2015

Today was the last of Longmire Days and I did the practical thing of doing laundry and dishes and all that yucky, normal, un-fun stuff. Until 4:30. Then I flew up the mountain to the pig roast and concert with the cast and other notables in attendance at South Fork Mountain Lodge.  It’s not clear…

Yeehaw

Posted on July 18, 2015

So… another long day, though very enjoyable and actually COOL.  Yes, folks, I said, COOL.  99.9% of Kids’ Rodeo days have been unbearably HOT, dry, dusty, sweaty days, but not today! If you wanted Longmire Days photos, you’ll have to wait… and, yes, I know I still have questions to answer from the other day……

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
