Better Than This

Posted on March 25, 2014

Now THIS is what spring should be like!  What a nice day!  I still wasn’t brave enough to modify the cross combing on my top bar bee hive some more, but I did get a few things cleaned up at my Bee Barn, with Vernon’s strong muscles to help! I need a coon-proof screen door…

Maps and My Workbench

Posted on March 24, 2014

Snow again.  A few more inches of the wet stuff, melted by this afternoon, but it held a cool breeze and temps in the 30˚s all day… so I didn’t venture out too far.  Sometimes you have to do laundry and dishes, you know! I did wander out to the studio… anxious to do SOMETHING …

Top Bar Hive Bee Barn

Posted on March 23, 2014

I managed to clean out my future Top Bar Hive Bee Barn (thanks, Susan, for coming up with the appropriate name!… though “boudoir” ran a close second!) at least partially this morning.  The heavy stuff is going to have to wait til I get someone to help me lift… The rims, I was hoping, would…

Didn’t I?

Posted on March 22, 2014

You guys amaze me!  The guesses from yesterday’s post were correct! This place… will soon become my Bee House, my Bee Building, my Bee Boudoir! The inside needs some cleaning… That’s what I was *supposed* to do today, but getting my little mini truck down there in the slick mud and, yes, it *did* SNOW…

Guesses

Posted on March 21, 2014

Friday evening plans for Saturday involve… uh, not this one, it’s too small… Not this one either… It’s too BIG! Oh, yes, JUST RIGHT! Now, if my ideas go as planned… and it’s not too cold and windy and/or snowy… I’ll be here tomorrow, fixing something up!  It has to be done soon… before the…

Skulls

Posted on March 20, 2014

Some of you have asked about my skulls… painted and otherwise… so I thought I’d answer those questions! 1.  The video of my buffalo skull discovery and excavation is a popular post.  I don’t envision ever painting it… It remains one of my Treasures just as it is! 2.  This small buffalo skull I found…

Snow Scenes

Posted on March 18, 2014March 18, 2014

Snow plastered against the deeply creased cottonwood bark. Sandhill cranes noisily announced their return.                                         The back door of the shop is braced against the drifting snow. An antelope skull becomes gruesome with snow fur.  And…

Classic Springtime

Posted on March 17, 2014

The snow is barely gone and another blizzard is raging outside, what was starting to dry up here will be mud again tomorrow. Classic of springtime around here… Some of our bulls graze by the old granary while remnants of winter hang on the shadowed hillsides and draws.  This was two days ago… tomorrow morning…

Decisions. Decisions.

Posted on March 16, 2014

Done with insulation! Yippee! It was much easier handling smaller pieces… why didn’t I do that before??? Next project just may be finishing the door tops on my shelves… If I get them screwed in place, I can walk on them instead of fighting my ladder when I hang my ceiling osb. Here they are……

Gunmetal Blue

Posted on March 15, 2014

Snow. Wind. Thankfully, not much snow, but it was mostly a grey day… great for sorting out a bunch of craft supplies!  I tried hard to make my pile of crafty items get organized into cabinets, simply because I need to be able to reach the tall part of the ceiling to insulate and install…
