Minute Movie: “Summer Pasture”

Posted on July 25, 2016July 24, 2016

Let me explain a few things… There are cows all along the route, they’re just hidden either by trees or landscape… There is no huge gap between the front and rear. The sky is smoky due to the fire… Dally was laying in the shade behind me, no disrespect to her since I didn’t get…

Poor Baby

Posted on July 24, 2016July 23, 2016

Yeah.  Long day. Very LONG day. I was very thrilled with the cows this morning… they lined up, paired up (mostly), and marched up the mountain.  After a break at the top of the Very Steep Hill, it was downhill from there.  Well, it was UPHILL, but *downhill*. Someday, I shall have to learn more…

Saddle at Four

Posted on July 23, 2016July 22, 2016

OK… It’s “Saddle at Four” time… So that means up at three am… So that means… I’m taking the easy way out and posting just a photo from the other morning.  It’s Dally behind the cattle in a very dusty spot!!!  I REALLY like this one! It also means I’m ignoring the big news of…

Another Trip

Posted on July 22, 2016July 21, 2016

Another trip up to the Mesa Pasture… this time from the home place. Full moon watching. I’m in the lead in the second photo… well, I’m in the lead most of the time… making sure they turn when and where they should. The red wall in the third pic… anywhere along here… I could build…

Something Else

Posted on July 20, 2016July 19, 2016

The moon settled down into its nest of hills, its fullness red tinged from wildfire smoke.  I headed toward the barn, ready to halter Panama and saddle him in the coolness of the morning.  Soon, Brandon and Megan pulled up in the pickup, followed by Daniel.  Our crew was ready… Dally and Tuff impatiently waited…

Tour de Wyoming

Posted on July 19, 2016July 19, 2016

Tour de Wyoming.  It’s quite the deal if you’re a bicyclist! You can check them out on their website… or just keep reading. 350+ bicyclists come over the mountain from Buffalo.  Yes, OVER THE MOUNTAIN.  Bless their hearts.  They’ve got guts and stamina!  Then in two days, they head back OVER through Shell Canyon. It’d…

To the Rescue

Posted on July 18, 2016July 17, 2016

We were at the edge of the storm… only a trace of moisture and wind gusts up to 41 mph.  Most of the storm went north… then we got the call from Daniel. “We’re on fire.” “Where?” Static.  Breakup. “… Joe Henry. (shhhhhhh) Don’t go on bridge… (shhhhhhhh) Call M. (shhhhhhh) I need the Jeep.”…

Kids Love It

Posted on July 17, 2016July 16, 2016

When you have seven grandchildren aged four and under… the Ten Sleep Kids’ Rodeo was the place to be today.  Everyone was there… We had stick horse racers… and costumed superheroes (3rd place!) and flower fairies… (We had firemen too, but no pictures allowed….) We had dummy steer ropers… Quinlan just edged out Waylon… they…

Check Out a Library

Minute Movie: “Wet Ride”

Posted on July 15, 2016July 14, 2016

Remember our rainy ride last week?  And all of my photos were blurry due to rain??? For some reason, I just looked at my little video… and although it’s damp with raindrops… it *is* in focus. It’s less than a Minute Movie… but enjoy it, nevertheless! And, yes, that’s “steam” coming off of the heifers’…
