Wool Scarf

Posted on February 12, 2015February 12, 2015

Tomorrow the Ten Sleep Library will be hosting Billie Jo Norsworthy from Lucy’s Sheep Camp.  She’s coming over from Thermopolis just to give some lucky people a class on wool needle felting!  Of course, someone has to be there to supervise the library… 😉 If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve seen me…

Calf Warmer

Posted on February 10, 2015

Still hung around close to the house today… working on some wool projects and cleaning… After lunch, though, I said I’d feed my bees and head down to where the guys were installing the calf warmer. After some research, I decided NOT to give the bees any corn syrup, as liquids need to be dried…

Happy Girls

Posted on February 9, 2015February 9, 2015

Bummer.  Everyone has had a cold around here, after the nasty crud in December, and the flu over Christmas… and I thought, knock on wood, that it might just pass me by.  Nope.  I got it.  It’s been a horrid cold and flu season around here, hitting people in this community very hard.  Actually, I…

Plein Air

Posted on February 8, 2015

The gift of pastel pencils has now turned into an obsession.  I went ahead and bought regular pastels to speed up things… I’ve watched videos… I’ve glanced at some library books.  The pastels arrived Thursday and I began Saturday night. I picked a photo from my ipad… Powder River Pass. Honestly… this is the first…

Roll Call

Posted on February 7, 2015February 8, 2015

Well, Victoria and the twins were here since last night… so this morning was quality time with the boys spending time with chickens for a bit… then it was off to the sledding hill.  This chinook wind has cut the snow level around here tremendously, and our little hill was in slick and fast form. …

Rising

Posted on February 6, 2015

Spent most of my day preparing and hosting an Origami Owl Jewelry party. It was fun… not my typical thing to do! So… All I have is the almost full moon rising the other day…

Chanting

Posted on February 5, 2015February 5, 2015

When you combine a split hose, water, and Wyoming winter, you get… There is a fine mist spraying into the center.  Every texture of ice is portrayed. The melted glass look… Sugared crystalline grass… Feathered ice. And speaking of feathers… Upon my approach, I instantly saw it.  Do you? On the right, an Indian medicine…

Phoenix

Posted on February 3, 2015February 4, 2015

This has occupied our thoughts here lately. (photo by Lee Lockhart) This is Ten Sleep’s Fire Hall.  Sunday night it burned down… with 5 vehicles inside.  How ironic that a fire hall would burn down, especially since it is one of the “newer” buildings in Ten Sleep.  We have many more buildings that have worse…

Advantage

Posted on February 2, 2015

One of the basic things I believe you should teach your dog is patience and calmness.  Calmness around livestock is a great quality to have… it’s easier on your dog… and your cattle.  While I’ve let Eden go along on some trail drives, I haven’t really WORKED her.  She’s followed the other dogs and had…
