Salsify Fun

Posted on July 28, 2014

And back on the ranch… Another bunch gets moved up to the Mesa Pasture… the difference this time? Victoria AND Matt wanted to ride, so that left me behind in the company of twins… Never to be left too far behind, I threw them in the Durango and followed the dusty trail. We arrived just…

Cheers, Mr. Johnson

Posted on July 28, 2014

Mark this on my calendar.  An absolutely amazing day.  It was our One Book Wyoming event for Washakie County. We, meaning three of us from the Ten Sleep Library, piled into the Buick and flew to Worland and help set up for author Craig Johnson’s appearance.  It was very well attended, and fun, and then…

Nice Gather

Posted on July 26, 2014

Gathered another pasture… Dally was on duty today.  It was an easier day for her… not a long distance, not too much up, more downs! Creek crossings were multiple! She loved it! Weather was a tad cooler… in the 80’s instead of 90’s… All in all… a very nice gather!

Sunset Heat

Posted on July 24, 2014

Holy cow, it’s been HOT lately.  The country is dry and red flag warnings are being issued by the National Weather Service.  That means FIRE DANGER is EXTREMELY HIGH.  They had one fire a couple of days ago, and we’re hoping to dodge the bullet with others that may come our way! Even my bees…

Longmire Days 2014

Posted on July 22, 2014

Here it is! I only attended Sunday afternoon at Longmire Days… the big humongous crowd had thinned out… it was HOT… and I was very content to sit in Crazy Woman Square and finish my zentangle!  A visit with Toria, Matt, and the twins broke up the time… but finally, it was 5 pm and…

Longmire Sunset

Posted on July 21, 2014

Doggone it! Spent too much time figuring out the new upgrade to iMovie… and now it will take too long to process, upload, and embed here.  So… rats.  No Longmire movie tonight. I’m *not* staying up another hour… Instead of posting this for Wordless Wednesday, I guess you get it tonight as a consolation prize!…

Longmire Artwork

Posted on July 20, 2014

A little zentangle doodle from today. This is based on my trip over the Big Horns… the pines, the creek, the geology, the flowers… and then… guess what I did to make it extra special? Yes. Oh, YES. Robert Taylor’s autograph. THE.  and I mean *THE* Sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming… Walt Longmire. I know….

Next Year’s Rodeo

Posted on July 19, 2014

Back in the day… my kids attended Ten Sleep’s little kids’ rodeo.  Held for just local kids, this rodeo was the first and only experience at being *in* a rodeo for most!  I used to help a little bit in the arena, one time Really Overheating, as I recall… because next to the 4th of…

Time Will Tell

Posted on July 19, 2014

When we took the majority of the cows up to the mesa the other day, there were a few unbranded calves we needed to take care of.  Daniel, too, wanted to brand his little herd.  Since Daniel uses freeze branding, I thought I’d show that to you.  While they recommend freeze branding in the spring,…

To Bee at Summer School

Posted on July 17, 2014

This morning I hosted Ten Sleep’s summer school on a field trip.  Their focus is on… bees!  I decided I could help with that! First was a talk on my lawn… where we looked at new and old comb and dead bees and brood comb and drone comb and had a bite of my honey……
