Corn Love

Posted on August 27, 2013

My day started with a laundry basket almost full of corn… Not a ton, but a good amount. So, I jumped in! First you place your corn in boiling water for 4 minutes… then blanch it in ice water… then drain. I like having a small board with a nail driven through it to place…

Giggles

Posted on August 26, 2013

Sorry, so wound up in the season finale of my favorite show, I about forgot to blog!  Plus, I was eating a homegrown tomato for my “midnight” snack… and I was happy! You’ll not find a spoiler here… so go watch Longmire on your computer and see what I am talking about!  Great writing is…

That’s Good

Posted on August 25, 2013

Aha! Amazing what I can find in my zillion photos… The wildfire from last year approaches the fence corner and fence line… Then here it is a day or so later… Those faint red lines are arrows trying to show where the fence ran. Let’s look a little closer… Way on the far left, you…

Happy Fence

Posted on August 24, 2013

I jumped in with Vernon and Brandon for a quick dash to our Mesa Pasture. You remember the Mesa Pasture… of course, you do! It’s the one that fell prey to wildfire last year.  You can refresh your memory here. We now have enough grass on it to use it perhaps this fall… and even…

Remember Ten Sleep

Posted on August 23, 2013

hmmm. Just typed in “how Ten Sleep got its name” into my search engine and pow! the photo that I meant to take today was there on flickr.  Seeing as how it’s copyrighted, I didn’t repost it here, but the sign, now showing its age, continues the tale of how Ten Sleep was halfway between…

Where?

Posted on August 22, 2013

And people say I live in the middle of nowhere! There’s all sorts of “wheres” around here!  Even when we trailed cattle there was this sign… It’s been torn down, stolen, replaced, stolen, replaced, stolen, replaced… I was going to share Wyoming’s Place Names website with you, but I couldn’t quite get it to work……

Cream Can Dinner

Posted on August 20, 2013

Well, back to ranchlife… Spent the day catching and cleaning up my house.  Seriously, I was just gone overnight… The sky is white with smoke from all the wildfires, but it did keep it a little cooler today, so I could achieve some painting on my garage…  One more full day and it’ll be done……

Longmire Days – The Video

Posted on August 19, 2013August 19, 2013

Well, I managed to put this together… a short video synopsis of Longmire Days in Buffalo, Wyoming this weekend! A BIG THANK YOU needs to go out to the organizers and volunteers, Craig and Judy Johnson for writing the Walt Longmire mysteries and “behind the scenes” work, and the great actors who patiently signed autographs…

Longmire Days – Part Two: The Big Silly Grin

Posted on August 18, 2013

It’s late, but I’ve just finished my two hour drive home over the Big Horn Mountains in the dark!  I only saw three elk and a few deer, so it was a nice drive!  I think I drove the entire way with this Big Silly Grin on my face!  No music… just memories of the…

Longmire Days

Posted on August 16, 2013

I’m abandoning ship. Something to do with a television show called Longmire. I’m leaving the guys behind to work, and I’m going to play.  If you don’t hear from me, I’ve lost myself in “Durant”.  Don’t bother coming to look for me, just call the Absaroka County Sheriff’s office. I don’t know why I like…

Me and My Girl

Posted on August 15, 2013

Sometimes the day starts off with a kick! It’s cool… And running downhill just feels FUN! Well, it definitely went downhill from here… We gathered the pasture, turned them out into the lane, and they were happy happy cows.  As in nopedon’tcarewheremybabyis, leavemealoneandletmeeat, cutmeoutofthebunch?Idon’tthinkso, whyisyourhorsesweatingthisgrassiswonderful. We were wanting to leave the yearlings in one pasture…
