Finish and Start

Posted on January 20, 2013April 4, 2015

I organized a bit in my garage today… It had become a pit since the garage door broke over a year ago.  Plus many of my supplies for my studio have been tossed in there because of the delay in the studio’s construction.  It has some changes coming… After lunch, the sun came out and…

On High

Posted on January 19, 2013April 4, 2015

The guys scour guarded our cows today… as well as something new we’re trying… injectable minerals.  Scours, as I’ve talked about before, can really wreck your calving season… Mineral supplements can help keep your herd in tip top health, so instead of having them just eat their minerals, this year, we’re giving them a shot….

Thanks, Konan!

My morning? A new haircut. Lucas’ last laser treatment for a while. A trip to this place to buy wool and visit a bit. Then, since I was so close to Thermopolis, I figured I might as well take a quick loop through Hot Springs State Park to see if any buffalo might be wandering…

Successful Outing

Posted on January 17, 2013April 4, 2015

I zipped home after work today… the dogs were all excited… How did they know I yanked my cross country skis out of storage? It was going to be a gamble that my ski boots would even fit me, it seems my feet keep growing… but, yup! I lucked out and could fit into them…

How To Needle Felt a Bird

Posted on January 15, 2013April 4, 2015

All righty then!  You’ve had extra time to gather your supplies… let’s create a bird! I want my birds lightweight, so I’m not making them solid like if I was using hot water to felt the wool.  I’m just layering light roving… creating a close approximation to a bird’s body… then adding some details. The…

No Nuthin’

Posted on January 14, 2013October 30, 2014

Well, rats. Started to make a video with needle felting… this time I’m working on a House Finch, another frequent visitor to my bird feeder… then I looked at the clock and decided that it was not the best use of my time when I had an appointment for Lucas at 11:00.  Which means I…

Needle Felting 1

Posted on January 13, 2013April 4, 2015

The day started off at -13º… but after lunch, with sunshine and no wind, the +10º felt quite agreeable!  I spent a little time insulating the walls of the dog house and installing one wall.  I also built a little “foyer” wall, an attempt to block the wind from just entering and swirling around the…

Something

Posted on January 12, 2013April 4, 2015

Assorted thoughts from a day unfocused… My Denver Broncos lost.  Waaaaaaah! It’s -6 outside… All I can think is… I’m hoping it’s much colder on the mountain, just to kill off a few bazillion pine beetles… I found, online, a new way to use needle felting… It’s amazingly gorgeous and I can’t wait to try…

Accomplished

Posted on January 11, 2013April 4, 2015

The snowstorm began overnight, 5 inches had accumulated.  I layered on some clothes, grabbed my new tools, and headed out to work on the dog house. I had hacked on the the former lid last time with my little jigsaw, and now, thinking with a few more cuts, it’d slide down and become the floor….

Any Medium

Posted on January 10, 2013April 4, 2015

A friend of mine… the one who taught me beadwork, and helped me make my Indian dress… now also quilts.  We posted some of her work at the library.   She is quite the artist, with any medium!
