Reader’s Digest Version

Posted on November 18, 2012April 3, 2015

Well, I didn’t take the time to figure out why my camera won’t download some of my videos.  I’m not sure if its a memory thing, or if its unreadable for some other reason. Which is too bad, because I have great movies of Quinlan’s first bull sale! You’d think the sound and activity would…

Attentive

Posted on November 17, 2012April 3, 2015

Today included: driving 2 hours to a bull sale. (bought a couple!) driving another 45 minutes to a.) watch Victoria’s middle school basketball team that she coaches (they won!) b.) attend an early 1st birthday party for the twins! driving home. OK. Technically I didn’t drive… but you know what I mean. That’s enough for…

Warm Place

Posted on November 16, 2012April 3, 2015

I made some minor adjustments to the chicken coop this morning… Though repairing the window might require the purchase of larger rolls of wire… The rest of the day, it seems, was spent in my kitchen. It was a drying kind of day. As in dehydrator. Cleaning my refrigerator, aka creating soup starter, occupied part…

Dark Moons and Starlight

Posted on November 15, 2012April 3, 2015

I wish I could photograph for you what I see at night, but pixels are poor imitators of the immenseness… the deep, soul-sucking blackness that backs the diamond brilliance of starlight unimpeded by city lights. The Milky Way that swags across the sky, a holiday decoration for year-round pleasure. The planets that wander along their…

Cooped Up

Posted on November 13, 2012April 3, 2015

After lunch, I decided to transfer the chickens back into the Puppy Coop.  It was such a nice day, 40 and sunny, so it felt good to be out shuffling things around. I grabbed all my dog supplies, crates and tunnels and beds and toys and hauled them to the bunkhouse. The roost had been…

Questions and Answers – November 2012 Edition

Posted on November 12, 2012April 3, 2015

Let’s get going! Sandy G.: Was there a reason for tying the twine on the chicken’s leg? (Keep it out of your garden, keep it nearby, or just for some fun!!) ??? (I am an ignoramus when it comes to chickens, so just wondering.) ;-} Sandy, I figured I needed a way to catch her……

Lookin’ Purty

Posted on November 11, 2012April 3, 2015

No, I haven’t forgotten Q&A time… just busy. Supper for nine tonight…and then I just kicked back. I’ll answer those questions and comments tomorrow! It was -5º this morning… and probably colder now… there’s frost on the inside of my windows! The girls and I did manage a walk this morning, though… (I like how…

Proof of Snowfall

Posted on November 10, 2012April 3, 2015

As Jaxon was being born… a cold front was moving into Wyoming.  The prediction was for 2-4″ of snow, and much colder temperatures.  Amazing how dropping barometric pressure can bring on labor! We started receiving very light snow a couple of hours before we decided to drive to Worland to see Jaxon.  We didn’t think…

Reinforcements

Posted on November 9, 2012April 3, 2015

First of all, my apologies for not posting last night. Got home at 8 pm, ate some supper, sat down on the couch and about 9:30 fell asleep.  I woke up just after midnight with a crick in my neck, and just too out of it to even consider booting up my Mac and writing…

What About You?

Posted on November 6, 2012April 3, 2015

Since I’ve put out the call for questions for this month’s Q&A… I’d like to ask for suggestions as well… What *haven’t* I covered in blog posts? (stay away from personal items, I won’s share that! ) (I still have to make a solar oven… I haven’t forgotten… and I never touched too much on…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
