Whew.

Posted on April 5, 2011April 1, 2015

Ha! I did it. My first pysanky completion of the year. The white is done, I’ve just covered the brown with wax… All dyed. With the wax melted off… Other side… white is finished and I’ve just covered the brown… All dyed… (very bad photo too… but realized it too late!) Wax all gone! View…

Other Muse

I’ve got the hankering for pysanky! After my classes…   and a friend posting hers on facebook…   and seeing my link for last year’s trypillian egg…   That’s all I want to do is sit and smell that melted wax and create!   Instead, today, I sorted and cleaned and painted and organized and…

Friends of the Ten Sleep Library

Posted on April 3, 2011May 23, 2013

It’s a busy few weeks at the Ten Sleep Library and seeing as how I was recently elected president of the Friends of the TSL… I’m busy promoting. First I gave a Pysanky class… Ukrainian egg decorating… and charged $5 to benefit the Friends.  It was a good time, with 10 participants and just as…

Highway 20 Views 2

Posted on April 2, 2011January 13, 2015

So here, in no particular order: No surprise to see more windmills on these high plains, but why is it I take comfort at these old style windmills but the new ones for electricity just irritate me? With lights and bleachers and an old school bus on stilts, the Merriman Speedway Mud Races look like…

First Campfire

Posted on April 1, 2011January 13, 2015

OK. I was all prepared to share more unique sights in Nebraska… then it was late and I thought, well, I’ll just show ’em some First Campfire scenes and then go to bed… But this I have to share. Remember, how I worked to come to terms with my (seemingly) lack of readership and felt…

Highway 20 Views

Posted on March 31, 2011January 12, 2015

The thing I enjoy the most while traveling, is just to see how other people live. Now, granted… central Nebraska is not that far removed from central Wyoming… but I still noticed a few things. Like this house. What’s the story? Somehow, these people wanted to shout their patriotism to everyone.  I like the sentiment,…

Buy One

Posted on March 29, 2011January 13, 2015

So, the dog owners were happy… Hustler seemed ready for Round Two immediately… Dally sent the confusing signs of “yes, I wanna” right along with “no way, Jose!” We took a little walk, discussing dogs and goats and livestock, hoping to let Dally wrap her little mind around what had happened and if it could…

Sex and the Country

Posted on March 28, 2011January 13, 2015

(part two) So, I’d done the Matchmaker part… checking pedigrees and working ability and health, and looks! I now perched precariously upon her decision… like a Fiddler on the Roof. I had been Driving Miss Dally all the way to not-quite Valentine, Nebraska… So, Miss Dally, what do *you* think? He’s dark, he’s handsome… He’s…

Passing Inspection

Posted on March 27, 2011January 13, 2015

I left Ten Sleep with one hope in mind… that after driving clear to the middle of Nebraska… Dally would stand for the mate I’d debated and agonized over! The cool thing about English Shepherd breeders, is that there aren’t many *out there*… and that makes for a small community where we know each other…

Significant Other

Posted on March 26, 2011January 13, 2015

We’re baaaaaaa-aaaack! 974 miles according to Google maps round trip. Which is crazy. Thankfully, I broke it up into 2.5 days!  I drove to Casper, spent the night with my brother and sister-in-law, drove to Nenzel, Nebraska… had our rendezvous… and returned to Casper… where I again spent the night and then came home today. Dally…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
