More Spit Than Bubbles

Posted on March 29, 2016March 28, 2016

Sometimes life is Pretty Darn Good. Things seem to go along as planned… Oh, sure, once in a while things crop up that pose challenges. But nothing that a little hard work won’t eventually overcome. Sweet

Posted on March 26, 2016March 25, 2016

Another snowy and stormy day at my house… I unexpectedly ended up babysitting Jaxon and Lacee… but what a good day to snuggle in and make Easter nest cookies, right?  Plus have a pot of beans on the stove… I was surprised that Vernon, too, hung around the house more than usual.  I mean, there…

Family Birthday

Posted on March 6, 2016March 5, 2016

We attended a birthday party for Johnny’s oldest brother today… George is now 102 years young.  It’s always a good time visiting with relatives and asking some clarification on family stories. Plus there’s always the family photos… The original George Greet who immigrated to the U.S. in the 1880’s.  He began the ranch on Spring…

I know you are reading this on Christmas day, but I’m writing it on Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve is the birthday of Johnny, and I thought it was about time I gave more than a passing Happy Birthday to him at the bottom of a post! I just wanted everyone to know that this man…

Great Deal

Posted on December 24, 2015December 23, 2015

Another visit with the Man in Red.  Neither Lacee nor Jaxon was going to get very close.  While Lacee was working up her courage, Jaxon was in my lap sobbing.  Poor little guy.  He’d been so excited to see Santa, but the actual face to face was just too much. Good ol’ Santa, though… he…

Traditions!

Posted on December 22, 2015December 22, 2015

(I always say that word like Tevye does… TRADITIONS!) Last night’s blog got me to thinking… what are my family’s Christmas traditions??? Well, first of all… Christmas Eve is Oyster Stew.  With none of my family around, meaning my parents and brother and sister, the only ones to eat oyster stew are Daniel and I. …

Reminiscing

Posted on December 21, 2015December 20, 2015

I thought you might enjoy this story from “Some Reminiscing of Mine” by James E. Greet, February, 1991. **** “We went to Grandma’s for Christmas one winter.  I was probably three or four years old.  It was about nine miles up the mountain to Grandma’s.  Mom drove the team and buggy.  The buggy didn’t have…

Entertainment

Posted on December 19, 2015

The thing about Christmas programs when you’re a preschooler… is the waiting. There’s Quinlan in the green shirt.  It was a long program… and the preschoolers were one of the last to perform.  Usually they’re one of the first and then they’re sent to sit with their parents… but this was a new all-school format……

Third

Posted on November 7, 2015November 6, 2015

More snow, a babysitting job, and a birthday party!  It’s no wonder I didn’t accomplish much today!  The guys are moving cows tomorrow… but I have a better offer… so an adventure over the mountain awaits!  For today… Happy 3rd birthday party (it’s actually Monday… but you celebrate when you can!) to Jaxon!  The snow…
