Well, I’m just about back to normal… thanks for all the well wishes! Unfortunately, I had to go to Worland today… it was the last day I had to get my driver’s license renewed… and Wyoming has made that process such a pain. I needed less information to get my passport! So, I had all…

Counting
Snow! Gobs of it! Well, not New York style, but a good little storm this afternoon and evening. The kind where you feel you’ve transported to the Enterprise right before it goes into warp speed… which I would have taken a photo of but I preferred to *stop* my “shuttlecraft” before pulling out the camera. …
Celebrate
We drove over the hill today to celebrate the twins’ third birthday (a little late). The wind was howling on Powder River Pass, elevation 9,666′, but it made for a few great wintry photos!
Chicken in the Cold
After the frigid cold we’ve been having, a day where it gets up into the teens and twenties feels pretty dog gone good! You’re ready to get out of the house and go for a walk… maybe a short one, but a walk all the same. Since the cold hit, Truce, the black cat, has…
Relish the Light
Afternoon thunderstorms roll in and by… They may hit with wind and rain and lightning and maybe hail, or they skip around us and all we get is wind! The gust the other day was 55 mph, just a breeze in most of Wyoming, but a good one for around here. Then, just as they…
High Water
After work today, I buzzed up the mountain just to see how Ten Sleep Creek was doing in the canyon. It was wild in town, but the canyon is rougher and tougher… and here it is about three times it’s normal size… just below Leigh Creek Monument. And down lower near the Wigwam Rearing Station… …
Dodging Rain Clouds
Stay tuned… tomorrow… a horse sale! Yeehaw!
Just Waitin’
Spring storms… gotta love ’em… when this leaves, the grass will shoot up! Before this hit, I spent some time with my bees, removing more of the cross combing. While some beekeepers have suggested I continue into the depths of the hive to see if my queen is laying… I still haven’t made it that…
Snow Scenes
Snow plastered against the deeply creased cottonwood bark. Sandhill cranes noisily announced their return. The back door of the shop is braced against the drifting snow. An antelope skull becomes gruesome with snow fur. And…
Classic Springtime
The snow is barely gone and another blizzard is raging outside, what was starting to dry up here will be mud again tomorrow. Classic of springtime around here… Some of our bulls graze by the old granary while remnants of winter hang on the shadowed hillsides and draws. This was two days ago… tomorrow morning…
Wonderful/Whew!
We attended Vernon’s uncle’s birthday party this afternoon. It was Uncle George’s 100th birthday! That was quite the deal… the governor of Wyoming said so!… and it was lots of fun visiting with everyone. Spring has hit hard here… every little slope, drainage, gully, wash, draw, ravine, and rut has water pouring down it. Enough…
