Dirt Memories

Posted on May 22, 2021May 22, 2021

We’ve had a few gloomy, slightly rainy days. It seems like we should have received more rain, everything is green and growing and just bursting. There was just enough of a break between storms that I finished rototilling my garden. I may have to do it one more time, but with the evening lows in…

Posted on May 21, 2021May 21, 2021

Posted on May 21, 2021May 21, 2021

Candid

Posted on May 18, 2021May 18, 2021

With some of my recent craft sales, I splurged and bought a trail camera. I’ve wanted one for years. Obviously, I’ve set it too high on one gatepost, looking across the open gate. It still captured some interesting shots… deer, birds, fantastic play of clouds and light, one antelope, and a coyote?

Random Branding

Posted on May 16, 2021May 16, 2021

They’re stepping up to all sorts of jobs lately… though they may have to fight me for my branding irons… My girls make quite the vaccination team! That little ninja turtle in the smoke is Lorelei… she and Lacee held a few, but much of her time was spent playing in the back of a…

TIRED

Posted on May 14, 2021May 14, 2021

Lordy, Lordy. Finally sat down at 10:15. I’m pooped! We are planning on branding our last small bunch on Saturday, though the chance of us getting rained out looks high. We will decide in the morning! It doesn’t matter for the cooks… we have to be prepared to feed our crew. I cooked the roasts…

Posted on May 13, 2021May 13, 2021

Special Time

Posted on May 11, 2021May 11, 2021

It only happens a few times a year… a nice weather day… no work… no time crunch… and a trip up the mountain to see how far the snow has retreated. A leisurely diversion of looking for arrowheads. Often an old sandy spot, perhaps a dead dune, holds the detritus of flint knapping. Flakes of…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
