Garden Plans

Posted on April 11, 2015

With the weather being so nice (barring the wind), my garden is ahead of schedule.  It’s rototilled and fertilized and ready to go.  There’s a few things I’m doing different, though. First of all, I didn’t “clean” it like usual.  I left everything but tomatoes and squash vines in the garden over the winter, letting…

Springtime Fun

Posted on April 10, 2015

Busy day. Remember that toy I bought at the antique store in Billings?  This is it. It’s a Row Cart.  I think it’s still a little too big for the grandkids, but Quinlan tried it out for the first time.  Of course, the only stretch of pavement is the floor of the shop… Somehow, I…

Frustrating

Posted on April 9, 2015

We had a nice little program at the library tonight.  One of our local gals goes on amazing horse adventures.  She’s ridden horses in South America, Australia, Africa, and Europe.  Tonight she shared her latest exploits down in Jalisco, Mexico.  Her stories were full of local culture, history, and horses.  It was fascinating in so…

Romance of the Horse Trailer

Posted on April 7, 2015

Dally came in heat and was standing last Sunday.  Last time she had pups was in 2012 when she was bred to Bubba, a big, dark sable from Shoshoni, Wyoming.  Then there was the trip last year to Idaho, where Tank, inexperienced gentleman that he was, refused to breed her although she flirted as much…

Honey Tales

Posted on April 6, 2015

There’s wildflowers out.  A few yellow bells, some white phlox, and by my garage, even some dandelions.  Yippee!  I know I didn’t use to cheer dandelions, but I do now.  In February, my bees were happy.  In March, they were humming right along.  I went to check them last week… and… sigh… Messopotamia was gone. …

Cool Goose

Posted on April 4, 2015

Some of you made some guesses about yesterday’s photo… and what was unique about it.  You’re right in that the baby calf was Brand New.  At most, he was two hours old!  But although they seemed to be the focus of that picture, what I wanted you to notice was at the top left. Can…

Cows Know

Posted on April 3, 2015

Even though I had spent a great amount of time driving to Billings and back, I made a decision Sunday to take another drive.  Dally was in standing heat, and, I thought, it’s now or never… so I made plans to drive south this time to a stud dog near Shoshoni, Wyoming.  A couple of…

When I Can

Posted on March 30, 2015

Seems like I’ve been going and going… Well, at least driving and driving!  Up to Billings Friday and back on Saturday, then a trip to Shoshoni Sunday and again today!  If I can stay out of a car tomorrow I’ll be happy! Yes, for those who commented about me passing up that crewel rug… Believe…
