First Hay

Posted on December 20, 2013

The guys decided it was time to start feeding the calves and heifers extra hay.  They’ve been on our fields munching away, but it’s time. We didn’t have to move them from their favorite restaurants so much as just get them from the self serve buffet to the best table in the house!  They’ll get…

Step Two

Posted on December 17, 2013

Steps were the order of business today… Vernon had them all cut and ready to go, so it was up to me to sand and stain today.  Vernon helped some, but he admits that finishing isn’t his “thing”, and I sand a bit more than he does! The stain actually matches the mud room cabinets,…

Bad Moon

Posted on December 16, 2013

Oh, I know this is a lousy photo… taken the other night trying to capture my Christmas lights plus the almost full moon.  I didn’t have my tripod, and I waver between capturing the light on the snow, or the lights… plus, I need a little flashlight to figure out my camera controls in the…

Questions and Answers – December 2013 Edition

Posted on December 15, 2013

‘Tis the Season

Posted on December 13, 2013

I’m still adding to this… but here’s the basic shelf all gussied up for Christmas! The bottom shelf and floor will hold presents… but for now there’s toys and a Santa hat for the boys to play with!  No garland.  No lights.  Maybe in a few more years! The next shelf holds “kid friendly” stuff…

Front Door

Posted on December 12, 2013

Remember this? This is what you used to see as you entered my house.  Of course, technically it’s the BACK door, but no one in the country, except salesmen that don’t know better, ever comes to your FRONT door!  We’re all tromping in mud and you-know-what on our boots, so if it’s possible, we go…

God Bless Them Everyone

Posted on December 10, 2013

It’s time for an update… Though reports have quieted down about the Winter Storm Atlas that hit the plains in October… there’s still a few new links floating around.  Here are the latest ones… Jenn Zeller, who blogs as The South Dakota Cowgirl, wrote a great article for Progressive Cattleman entitled “Recovering from a battle…

Library’s Heart

Posted on December 9, 2013

The Silent Auction was tonight and we had a good turnout.  It warmed up to 18 degrees today, so everyone was loving the “heat wave” and ready to get out of the house! I *DID* finish my Father Christmas… and I turned him into a stocking.  He didn’t fit the stretcher bars I had, and…
