Absolute Love

Posted on October 30, 2012April 3, 2015

Yay. The cows are about halfway down… the neighbors were kind enough to let us overnight in their pasture… Then, of course, instead of taking them to the fire ravaged Mesa Pasture, we’ll bring them on home. We, meaning the guys, because I’ll be on duty at the library. But I’m getting ahead of myself!…

Soft Cottonwood

Posted on October 29, 2012April 3, 2015

Well, I’m gonna be lazy tonight, folks. We’re gathering cattle tomorrow, which means NO SLEEPING IN!  (Especially for those silly enough to be up late posting on her blog!) Tonight? Just a bare cottonwood in soft focus… **** October 29, 2011   Looks Good! October 29, 2010   Water Is Flowing October 29, 2009   It’s Thursday… Puppy…

Snow Line

Posted on October 28, 2012April 3, 2015

I found it. About 8 pm. Under some gloves. In the mud room. Duh. So, to make up for yesterday, and because I couldn’t take photos today… The Big Horn Mountains… getting snow on the mountain tops… but notice, no snow down lower.  This is looking northeast… Now the Big Horns due east of us……

Daily Adventure

Posted on October 27, 2012April 3, 2015

I’m losing it. Seriously. After promoting myself yesterday as “The Amazingly Awesome And Cool Visual Finalist For BlogHer’s Voice of the Year Category”, I’ve just spent the last 23 minutes wandering around my house searching for my camera. Yup. Took some photos today. Yup. Was even gonna share. Nope. Can’t find my stinking camera! Now,…

Great Deal

Posted on October 26, 2012April 3, 2015

I’ve been writing this blog since January of 2008.  I’ve written on ranchlife and cows and farming and calving and horses and crafts and remodeling and my family and my job. Probably a few other things. In 2011, I was recognized by BlogHer, a community of women bloggers, for my visual story about a bald…

Snowstorm Toughness

Posted on October 25, 2012April 3, 2015

There’s all sorts of news today… *The shed is entirely gone… destroyed in an hour or so and hauled away after a few more hours.  Bare ground, a few poles, and some concrete chips are all that’s left. *The pivot is assembled and plumbed.  Electricity still needs to be changed and then rewired.  The roll…

Blue Prairie Hero

Posted on October 23, 2012April 3, 2015

I would not have been near so late writing this blog, but for a Roy Rogers movie on RFD-TV!  I couldn’t resist… dear ol’ Roy was my first true love!  Sometimes those old movies just strike me as a simple joy. Everything is black and white, including the film… Nice harmony… Gorgeous horse… Classic cars……

A Few More Hills

Posted on October 22, 2012April 3, 2015

A little progress was made today… It rained this morning, so there was a delay… but the tower is bolted to the pad… and some pipe is together. In the comments yesterday, Judy asked, “WOW! looks like you have to move a lot more dirt a lot farther for it than any farmer in Nebraska…

Here It Comes

Posted on October 21, 2012April 3, 2015

Yes, Yes! So many of you guessed correctly, now that more of the details were revealed! We are proud owners of a new center pivot. The first we’ve ever owned. The next two days will, weather permitting, have the tower in place and the pipe fitted together!  It will be a bit before the electrical…

Big Impact

Posted on October 20, 2012December 19, 2014

While a couple of you gave my query of “What is Vernon’s latest project?” a couple of unique and humorous guesses… (No, it’s not a man cave or a donut shack!)  and since J. could “cheat” by seeing the entire field as she drove by… I figured it was only fair I give out another…
