Small Details

Posted on April 12, 2010January 9, 2015

On my hike the other day were many small details that made the walk more enjoyable… The tiny white phlox tucked close to the ground… The calcite streaks of the belemnites… oh, how I’d love a rock saw to cut and polish these beauties into… something… This ant hill has my favorite earth colors… with…

Peace in my Soul

Posted on April 11, 2010January 9, 2015

A slow morning ended with Brandon’s departure back to Laramie and school. After he left, Vernon decided to finish rototilling my garden… a job Brandon had initiated by pulling out the wicked machine and changing its oil.  One outside round had been accomplished and 99.9% of the garden remained.  Vernon pulled and pulled and started…

Hiking

Posted on April 10, 2010January 9, 2015

Wyoming springtime produced the perfect day today. No snow. No wind. No hovering grey clouds. So after a brilliant morning of straightening the house and actually training, yes, training on my three English Shepherds, and cooking lunch, I took off on a hike! The plan was multifold… get the dogs and I some serious sunshine…

Atlatl

My trip to Kaycee’s Rendezvous turned out rather well. I gave my camera to a couple different adults and hoped they’d luck out and get at least one good photo… I was impressed!  Most of them turned out quite well! The fourth graders have been studying history… and Kaycee’s bunch was entertained for a bit…

Willow Creek

Posted on April 7, 2010January 9, 2015

I awoke to 2 inches of snow on the ground and still falling…  a cup of coffee and some morning news and I looked up… the sun was shining… snow was melting.  It was springtime again!  True enough to Wyoming’s springtime, the wind was blowing… but *sunshine* is a glorious offering! I have worked off…

Posted on April 6, 2010March 26, 2015

WOW. AMAZING. I had 30 (Thirty!  yes, thirty!) comments on yesterday’s entry!  Way to go, readers!  I’m just so tickled and thrilled you’d share like that! A few words of clarification.  Yes, *I* call this blog, Overlook… but many readers don’t notice that and that is NOT what you type in to get here.  That…

Creativity Help

Posted on April 5, 2010January 9, 2015

I’m searching for a new name. This blog comes free with my website… www.rimrockenglishshepherds.com but it is hard for people to find and/or remember.  If you are looking for wonderful dogs, you can find the website by searching for English Shepherds and Wyoming… but if you only read one or two blog entries about calving or cowboying……

Easter Egg- Part Two

Posted on April 4, 2010January 9, 2015

When I begin an egg for pysanky, I might have a general idea of what I want… Traditional styles… or not. Traditional colors… or not. Sometimes I want to try something new. Like art deco styles… Wonderful end designs… Amazing bands of art deco swirls and integrated designs. My plan… Simple green and white. No…

Questions and Answers- April Edition

Posted on April 3, 2010March 26, 2015

Here they are… your questions *hopefully* answered by me! SARA: How old are some of your cows? ANSWER:  Cows usually start breaking or losing their teeth around 7 or 8 years of age.  They are then called “broken mouth cows”.  As it worsens, they have a harder time eating and do poorer.  Since we don’t…

What’s in Front

Posted on April 2, 2010January 9, 2015

Today was incremental in its rise in temperature… but the sun was out, and though the slight breeze held a chill, people and calves both appreciated the lack of wet snow coming down sideways!  This was a WET snow, and as it slowly retreated throughout the day, sure enough, the green grass below it is…

Blooming Snow

Posted on April 1, 2010January 9, 2015

Sure enough, it is almost Easter… and so a snowstorm has hit!  I went to Worland tonight to a Pet First Aid Class… and decided to take this photo of our mailbox as I drove in just half an hour ago.  Though we only have 3 inches or so on the ground, it does look…
