Tagging

Posted on March 21, 2015

Wonderful weather has been the norm as of late… and it makes for a great calving season.  Last night, Daniel calved out the last of our heifers.  Today, in one bunch, 15 calves were born!  This afternoon, I rode along with Vernon as he and Brandon tagged the calves born yesterday. Tagging… not with a…

Exciting Day

Posted on March 20, 2015

Wednesday I stayed home from work and watched Quinlan and Lorelei.  About 11:30, I had put Lorelei down for a nap and was playing with Quinlan when I noticed the smell of smoke.  Looking up, it was a *holy-cow-there’s-smoke* moment!  I just happened to glance at the heating vent under my bar and there was…

Still Cook

Posted on March 18, 2015

Sometimes having all these outbuildings is a blessing… and sometimes a curse.  It means you have room to store STUFF, which means you have a tendency to store STUFF.  Honestly, I’m not too ashamed (most of the time) to dig out some old toys for my grandkids instead of buying something new, because in all…

Mind Your Own Business

Posted on March 17, 2015

The other day, as the warm weather shrunk the snowbanks into the ground, I worked in my yard.  If you recall, we had our cottonwoods trimmed last fall and under the snow is a carpet of sawdust and sticks.  It’s going to take a few sore backs full to clean up this mess.  As I…

Art Doodle

Posted on March 16, 2015

I taught an art doodle class at the library tonight.  It’s a fun little hobby, easy to do, minimal supplies… We went over some designs… Practiced a little… Then we all copied a stencil of a cat… and look what happened!  Each one is so different!  This was SO FUN!  Thanks, ladies, for coming!

Way to Go, Ten Sleep

Posted on March 14, 2015

Well, today was very fun and quite successful. I did manage to slop some green chili in my car on the way in to the contest… so I’ll be cleaning that up tomorrow!  Here’s my entry.  I was all about the presentation! That’s my sign…and a tablecloth…  Unfortunately, I didn’t win… Sara did… She’s sporting…

Peace, Truce

Posted on March 13, 2015

It must be too late at night because I do not know where my camera is… sometimes… sigh. Well, I’ll save today’s story for another time, I guess. And tomorrow is the chili cookoff and auction and tshirt sale to benefit the Fire Department, so I’ll be sharing that tomorrow.  Direct donations can be made…

Heads Up, Craig Johnson Fans!

Posted on March 12, 2015March 13, 2015

Remember our big fire at our fire hall?  I called that post Phoenix because I knew this little town’s fire hall would rise from its own ashes! Well, neighboring towns have been generous in gear and money… raising money at basketball games or bake sales.  Donations have come from across the country directly to our…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
