Wordless Wednesday – “Marvel Photos”

Posted on March 23, 2011January 13, 2015

This will be a slightly un-Wordless Wednesday… For my post yesterday, I didn’t have these available… but now I do… This is my marvel. Dandy. As my baby. As my son. As a man. Please forgive me for the next few days… I shall be computerless and therefore, blogless!  However, I shall share photos of…

Marvel

Posted on March 22, 2011May 23, 2013

As I sat here at my computer and watched our “Calf Cam” over the internet, I marveled. Oh, not at the technology, although its seemingly “magical” powers are astounding… but at the man on the screen.   I tweeted about him… step by step… as he loaded a heifer in the chute… struggled with a…

Hopping

Posted on March 20, 2011January 13, 2015

Lest anyone ever try to convince you that ranchers aren’t busy this time of year… here’s one statistic for you. We’ve had 61 calves the past four days. If I did the math correctly, that’s a baby every 1.573 hours. It’s kept the guys hopping! **** March 20, 2010   Same Color March 20, 2009…

Moon Shadow

Posted on March 19, 2011January 13, 2015

We had 19 calves today! Guess when I titled yesterday’s post “Baby Shower”… that was *REALLY* meant for today! The wind was blowing nine-oh for most of the day, which may have had some influence.  I’m not sure what the barometer was doing, but I bet it was going down! There are only 17 heifers…

Traffic Report

Posted on March 17, 2011January 13, 2015

Now for Wyoming State Highway 434… Traffic appears to be light today with surface conditions favorable.  From milemarker 17 north to 15 you will find a few fresh patties, but otherwise dry… There are a few cattle northbound but WDOT doesn’t believe it will slow down your work commute for longer than 4 – 10…

Webcam Update

Posted on March 15, 2011January 13, 2015

I should have entitled this The Trials and Tribulations of Having a Webcam Update. The camera installed easily. The wireless antenna worked flawlessly. Daniel could watch the calving shed from his house within minutes. I could watch the shed from the library, or Toria could watch it in Kaycee, or anyone one else could… except…

Stylish Blogger Award

Posted on March 13, 2011May 22, 2013

My turn to pass it forward. Kari, over at Montana For Real, gifted me with a Stylish Blogger Award.     Style, obviously, being interpreted in multitudinous ways in order for me to be considered in the running.   Like Kari, I believe in jeans, boots and loose work shirts.   And manure.   And…

It’s A Start

Posted on March 12, 2011January 13, 2015

The warmth and wind has taken a lot of our snow the past few days… but our fields are still covered in snow with crusts of mud around the edges. It makes for a workout walking my buddies. I decided it was time to start some more training. Walking along the highway. This is where…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
