Fair Weather Cowgirl

Posted on January 10, 2011January 11, 2015

We’ve received 10″ of snow with this storm, more than we’ve had for quite a while!  4″-5″ were predicted, so when it dumped this on us, we were surprised! It is very light and fluffy… even my snowshoes yesterday didn’t make much of a difference! Since we were due to bring our cows in from…

Due To The Weather

Posted on January 9, 2011April 23, 2013

Let’s just say it snowed a tad here last night and today. Enough that I took my snowshoes when I walked my dogs! My usual trail to the dam and beyond was more than I could stand, I barely made it to the dam! The dogs were exercised as well as I was. Elsa, being…

A New Craft Support Group Part B

Posted on January 8, 2011January 11, 2015

We started this little adventure in November. Preparing for Christmas presents, remember? Well, it’s come and gone… as well as Vernon’s birthday on the first… and as usual… I’m still not finished! I figured I’d share anyway. I only work on it when I sit down in front of the TV… and after a bit I…

Before Shot

Posted on January 7, 2011March 29, 2015

Thanks to everyone who expressed condolences at the loss of Willow.  You are very special to take the time and effort to send me a note!  I really appreciate all of you! One of the great things about living on a ranch… if a horse has given you years of work… he can retire here……

My Red Willow Dancer

Posted on January 6, 2011January 11, 2015

Really, I can’t remember how old he was. I can’t remember what his registered name was. I do remember he was my mode of transportation for many, many years. He was a sweetheart. Brought up from Oklahoma by a guy from Hyattville, Wyoming…  This man used to drive to Oklahoma, buy a new horsetrailer and…

HA!

Posted on January 4, 2011January 11, 2015

Today, we bangs vaccinated our young heifer calves. You may have heard of brucellosis… a bacteria that causes cattle to spontaneously abort their calves. By law we have to vaccinate against this contagious disease.  Whether or not there is an outbreak of brucellosis in cattle is a big factor in Wyoming cattle prices… our “brucellosis…

Project Failure

Posted on January 3, 2011February 5, 2015

Although the guys didn’t think it was necessary, I insisted on doing *something* with the bathroom window. You see, the highway passes by my house. The guys figure no one can see anything going by at 60 mph… they forget out-of-state hunters drive slowly, as do people trailing their cows down the road, and I’m…

Hey, Lookie, Lookie!

Posted on January 2, 2011January 11, 2015

Been meaning to have a day I could post these… My appliances in my new kitchen! Now if you’ve been a follower for a while… you know we’ve been remodeling this kitchen for two years as of Thanksgiving. With the installation of my new appliances, we’re just a smidge from being finished! The little 12″…

Happy New Year!

Posted on January 1, 2011April 23, 2013

We had planned to have our New Year/Birthday Bonfire again… and I had planned to use some fantastic firelight photos tonight. The pile we are setting on fire this time is HUGE… and the snow around it will help prevent it from spreading! The only minor problem we had… It’s COLD. -28 this morning on…

The Janus Tree

Posted on December 31, 2010January 11, 2015

Thanks to Mr. William Callahan, teacher of English and Latin, leader of future leaders, fun-loving East Annual sponsor, planter of seeds and new thoughts… from you I learned so many things… including a few bits about the transitional god Janus. Literally two faced, seeing forward and behind… the future and the past. I’ll let you…

Icy Coolness!

Posted on December 30, 2010January 11, 2015

We’ve managed to get 6 inches of snow out of this storm… and it’s currently 2 degrees… with predicted winds.  When those winds hit, it’ll be NASTY! Yesterday high winds were hitting all over the state, blowing semis over and off the roads… drifting snow over the roads and turning them to ice.  Wind gusts…
