Boys ‘n’ Toys

Posted on December 5, 2010January 14, 2015

I haven’t heard from any of you about your attempts at making a wool saddle pad… Is anyone besides me making one of these?  I’ve just been referring everyone to the posts at “Just Another Day On the Prairie” instead of redoing all of her instructions and work.  No need to reinvent the wheel… but…

Making My Millions

Posted on December 4, 2010March 29, 2015

The snow that caused my white knuckles of yesterday also caused Vernon much distress. The plan today was to ship 60 yearling heifers off to the sale barn, but 4 inches of snow makes for slick hills. Slick hills make truck drivers nervous. And owners of the heifers that are going inside those trucks. We…

Panic and White Knuckles

Posted on December 3, 2010January 14, 2015

I don’t know if I should title this entry, “Panic” or “White Knuckles”. After falling asleep while trying to watch the National Finals Rodeo… I awoke to a dog’s snuffling nose at my bedside. Grabbing ten more seconds of warmth, I tossed back the covers and glanced at my windows.  No rim of frost.  Good….

Random

Posted on December 2, 2010January 12, 2015

I’m blank. No, I take that back. I have multiple topics dancing around in my head, but no focus, no singular thought. If I don’t watch out, I’ll still be awake when the NFR comes on!  For those of you who don’t know, that’s National Finals Rodeo.  In Vegas, baby! Many rodeo fans will be…

Two Reasons

Posted on November 30, 2010March 28, 2015

You asked for it, so here it is… I can’t take credit for the design of the paperback book wreath… although I did add my two cents worth!  Here’s the link to Living With Lindsay where I found this cool idea!  She says “Librarians, Please Avert Your Eyes”… but it seems to me, with the reactions…

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like…

Posted on November 29, 2010March 28, 2015

I managed to have a dream job of mine today… My Christmas Decorator license was used to its full extent! The wreath that I’ve been creating a few ornaments for, was finished by five volunteers today.  I did my wheat weaving, painted jingle bells, and fake birchbark ornaments.  We also had boiled wool mittens, copper…

Short and Sweet

Posted on November 28, 2010March 28, 2015

Today was our turn at checking the pipeline… and I would have gone along for the ride… but instead I chose to use the day crafting.  I am helping with a new project for the library, and have a deadline for creating my donations. Don’t worry… photos will appear. But after spending *another* day inside……

Until Spring

Posted on November 27, 2010January 14, 2015

The kids have been here, so we’ve eaten and talked and laughed and played a game or two and eaten and watched tv and built fires and eaten and hauled wood for more fires and eaten and napped and then this morning Vernon drove to Buffalo and purchased this… So… we’re NOT looking for a…

Hair Loss

Posted on November 26, 2010March 28, 2015

I guess it’s probably good to fend off impending Alzheimer’s… but don’t let anyone kid you… setting up a blog store is painful for your brain. I’d rather try my hand at crossword puzzles or jigsaw puzzles or sudoku. Or crafts. Or remodeling. Or photography. Or cowboying. Or reading. Or… well… you get the idea….
