Treat

Posted on July 3, 2016July 2, 2016

While we provide salt and mineral to our cattle… they aren’t the only ones that benefit. Often other animals will come to the salt lick and lick and chew at the dirt.  Salt seems to escape its containers… they will be shoved or kicked over, or rain will wash some through some cracks in their…

Pay Day

Posted on July 2, 2016July 1, 2016

We shipped our steers to their buyer in Nebraska. It’s what we’ve worked for since these steers were born in the spring of 2015.  It’s pay day. It’s also a chance for 4 generations to work together… well, kinda… he’s getting there! Keep on learning, Jaxon!  You’ve got the best teacher!

Splash Zone

Have you ever been in wet jeans?  I mean like, “jump-in-a-swimming-pool” wet?  Have you tried to peel them down your legs, or pull them back up?  Then, have you tried to move? Like, bend your knees… think… getting on a horse in wet jeans.  Think “Wet Saddle”.  Think “having to get off your horse to…

Storm Along the Red Wall (Puzzle Included)

Posted on June 29, 2016

Our yearling steers sold this morning, so we all met here and watched the video auction and then, for lunch, ate some nice Greet Ranch beef… While we were towards the top of the prices, of course, the market is down compared to the past two years.  It’s not like we have control over the…

Going Nowhere

Posted on June 28, 2016June 27, 2016

I continue to check the water and cows and salt and mineral supplies on the Slope Pasture.  That means load the dogs, grab some water for me!, a 50# sack of mineral and salt each, check the gas gauge on the Rhino, make sure you have on wraparound sunglasses and a tight fitting baseball cap…

Posted on June 27, 2016June 26, 2016

But, let’s look at the little thing…

Two Yucca Moon

Posted on June 25, 2016June 24, 2016

I need to make a slide show of all my cloud photos… they’ve been spectacular lately. I’m trying to load some raw footage of some up on Vimeo quickly.  No titles, no transitions… I will see how long that takes!  I get so frustrated at the slowness of iMovie.  I have tooooooo many videos… but…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
